COMMIT ALERT: Ingle Makes It Official
Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips defensive back Tanner Ingle has verbally committed to NC State.
Ingle was a long-time Tennessee commitment but opened back up his recruitment after the Vols fired head coach Butch Jones. NC State had remained in pursuit, and he quickly named the Wolfpack his leader.
"Coach Huxtable and coach Doeren are recruiting me for NC State," Ingle stated. "They've been on me for a while. To come down and watch me, that meant a lot.
"I've known about NC State for a while now. I went up there for a visit a while ago, and the main thing that stood out was the facilities. I wasn't expecting what all they had the school, that's no disrespect to NC State because it's a big school. It was really impressive, and I liked the area a lot too. It's a beautiful place."
Ingle checks in at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, and he's best labeled a playmaker on the football field. A dynamic returner, he totaled six returns for touchdowns as a junior. This season he's averaging over seven tackles per game, and he is being recruited to play cornerback or safety.
NC State has him pegged to play a specific position where a player built a lot like Ingle excelled for four seasons.
"NC State want me to be a nickel," Ingle said. "It's the role Dravious Wright played for them. I love that spot because I consider it a playmaker's position. I love playing up in the box and flying around making plays.
"I can play well in the box so that spot would fit me. I do need to keep working on my open-field tackling. A lot of times I'm trying to make the big hit, and I get over-aggressive at times, I'm working on that."
Inside Pack Sports will have more from Ingle on his decision in the near future so stay tuned!
