Tommy White Named Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week
TUCSON, Ariz. – For the second consecutive week, NC State freshman Tommy White has been named one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the week, announced by the publication on Monday.
After a sensational start to his career on Opening Weekend, White followed it up with another impressive performance at the plate last week, going 11-for-20 with four home runs and 17 runs batted in. He tallied two or more hits in four of his five outings and matched his career high in RBIs on Feb. 25 vs. Quinnipiac with six, as he hit a grand slam and two-run homer in back-to-back at bats.
He currently leads the NCAA with nine home runs, 20 hits and 29 RBIs, and ranks second in runs scored (18) and slugging percentage (1.412).
NC State is back in action next when it makes the short trip to Buies Creek, N.C., Wednesday to face Campbell at Jim Perry Stadium in its first road game of the season. First pitch is set for 5 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and an audio stream on WKNC 88.1 and the Varsity App.
