RALEIGH – NC State women's basketball (6-1) once again matched the best Associated Press Top 25 ranking in program history as it moved up to No. 2 in the nation on Monday.

NC State is tied with UConn at second after receiving 704 votes in this week's poll. The Wolfpack ascended to No. 2 in January of 2021 for the first time since the 1990-91 campaign and spent a total of three weeks at that spot last season. This is NC State's 12th week in its 48-year history checking in as the nation's second-ranked team.

The ranking comes after NC State extended its winning streak to six games with a perfect 2-0 week in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship. The Wolfpack toppled second-ranked Maryland on Thursday (78-60) and followed up with a stellar defensive win (62-34) over Washington State, which was receiving votes in the AP Top 25.

All six of the Pack's wins in 2021-22 have been by 18 or more points, and the team is out-scoring those teams by an average of 30.2 points per game. Four of those six victories have been against Power Five opponents - Florida, Kansas State, Maryland and Washington State.

NC State has been ranked in the AP Top 5 every poll since popping in at week three (Dec. 7, 2020) of last season. The team has been featured in the AP Top 10 every poll since Dec. 9, 2019 and in the AP Top 25 since Feb. 5, 2018. The Wolfpack spent the first three polls of the 2021-22 campaign at No. 5 after tying the program record for the best preseason AP ranking coming into the year.

The Wolfpack continues its competitive non-conference slate on the road as it makes a trip to take on sixth-ranked Indiana for the B1G/ACC Challenge on Thursday, Dec. 2. Tip-off from Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind., is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
