POSTGAME: Dave Doeren Talks Boston College Win
NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media after the win over Boston College.
"You recruit guys like [Nyheim Hines] for a reason. When you get a difference maker with the heart of a champion like Nyheim it matters."
"Like I said after the Notre Dame game, it's a different football team when we don't have him."
"Not only do we have him, but he's back healthy and I'm excited about that for the finish here with two in-state games."
"We didn't practice him Tuesday, gave him one extra day, and he went Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. We felt good about it."
"Can I enjoy today? We'll talk about Wake Forest next time."
"We had a double pass on and unfortunately it was poorly executed by us."
"It was a throwback and bad timing... to call a trick play, sometimes bad things happen."
"That was really unfortunate to turn the ball over and put our defense in that situation."
"We just gave [Bradley Chubb] the gameball."
"It's pretty special when you talk about the d-linemen NC State's had... Mario Williams the first overall pick."
"For him to now be better statistically, to be called the all-time greatest defensive lineman at NC State is a great thing. That's why he came back... that Chubb patch... now someone may wearing his number down the road. It's pretty neat."
"It's always good to get a winning taste back."
"Our goal after next week was to get to seven wins in the ACC, it's never been done."
"We knew we had to beat a very good football team today that was playing for bowl eligibilty on senior day coming off a week off."
"We tackled him... that first drive... we were just bouncing off the kid. Setting edges... they did have some formations they didn't show and we knew that would happen coming out of the bye."
"Defensively we really finished well in the fourth quarter."
"Terronne had a concussion and Steph should be okay. It was an ankle sprain... just how long it takes him to heal up."
"That whole thing is just a mess right now, unfortunately. We may just go for it everytime on fourth down the rest of the year and just put seven or eight fakes in. "
"I told them to make up for [the turnover]. They did that to the defense, it's their turn to make up for it, and they did."
"I thought it was awesome out there. It was really nice. The sun was out, it wasn't very windy. We were honestly colder in Raleigh a couple of days this week with the wind we had. I thought it was great."
