Playing in one of the nation's toughest conferences, NC State was picked to finish second in the Atlantic Division of the 2021 ACC Baseball Preseason poll, announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

Based on a vote by the league's head coaches, the Wolfpack collected 74 points to finish behind overall champion Louisville (95 points and 11 first-place votes) in the division.

Nine teams in the conference are ranked in at least one of the preseason polls from Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, DI Baseball, NCBWA, Perfect Game and USA Today. NC State is nationally ranked among the top 20 in all six to start the 2021 campaign.

The Pack opens its season Feb. 19 when it hosts VMI at 3 p.m. Doak Field at Dail Park. TV designations as well as information on capacity and ticketing will be announced at a later date.

Nice to see unc bottom feeding. Hope they stay there a while

I like our team makeup. I think the hitting is there. We have a ton of pitching options, just need some to rise above others ultimately. Covid rules and it affecting the MLB draft was def good to us in returning players
