Statistics: Williams connected on 7-of-11 field goals, with two of those blocked and the other two were misses from 55 and 58 yards, respectively. He put 95% of his kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.
Why NC State? “I had no idea a scholarship was available for me. I was surprised, but I’ve always been talking to their special team’s coach. He wanted me to give them a call, so I called and coach Doeren was on the phone and he said he saw a video I was in. It was a Kohl’s kicking camp video and I kicked a 67-yard field goal and he goes, “I want to give you a scholarship,” and it just touched my heart. That just made everything.”
Who Did He Pick NC State Over? Army, Furman, Western Carolina, Charlotte, and Wofford in addition to preferred a walk-on spot at UNC
IPS Take On Ian Williams: Williams attended a training camp in the summer of 2019 and showed very well at that event. He followed it up with a dominant performance in July of 2019 at the National Scholarship Camp. Williams was in contention for the Under All-America Game because his field goals and kickoffs are special. His clean leg swing and repeatable motion are very impressive. He also has the ability to hit some very big punts. - Kohls Kicking
