COMMIT ALERT: JUCO DL Pheldarius Payne Commits To NC State

NC State has landed a commitment tonight from Lackawanna (PA) standout defensive lineman Pheldarius Payne‍.

Originally from Suffolk (VA), Payne‍ camped at State back in June. His brother had been there previously, so Payne decided to work out for the Pack at the urging of his coach. It was a decision that paid off for both parties.

At 6-2, 263 pounds Payne impressed in one on ones and received constant praise from Wolfpack defensive line coach Kevin Patrick. Payne walked away with an offer from State, and the instant bond formed between Payne and Patrick appears to have the potential to pay off for the Wolfpack. 

“I love coach Patrick. He’s a great coach. He was very straightforward with me and was just telling me he liked the way I played.”

As a freshman Payne registered 23 tackles and five sacks. 

Payne is NC State’s 16^th commitment in the 2020 recruiting class.  Inside Pack Sports will have more on his decision in the near future!
