Gallaspy: "This Is One Of The Great Rivalries That We Have"
NC State senior tailback Reggie Gallaspy is ready for his final game against the Tar Heels.
Wke know how much this Carolina game and this rivalry means to this fanbase. Can you speak to what it means to you guys as players, especially for you as a senior going into your last game against them?
Thi is one of the great rivalries that we have in the state and they don't like us, we don't make them. It’s bittersweet, but just going into the week... just decided to have another opportunity to get better and another opportunity to try to be the best team in the state.
What a feeling would it be for this senior class to have part of your legacy being beating them three times in a row?
That's a good thing to have, to beat your rival team three times in a row.
My freshman year we lost to them when they played us here, and we got after them ever since then.
We just have to come out strong and try to put the rivalry behind us... just treat it like a regular game so we can come up with the win.
What makes this rivalry special to you?
Just back home in Greensboro and visiting... a bunch of Carolina fans talk smack to you, things of that nature. And I have a lot of teachers and stuff back in high school that went to Carolina or went to NC State.. .the rivalry they have as teachers as well.
It’s fun, having a rival, a group of people you can talk trash to.
Senior Day for them, you have to expect their best shot.
I feel like you always going to expect the best from UNC. They are a good team.
You could turn on the film and the way they play and they do things, it just don't correlate to what their record is. They can really play well and they have talented players.
They're not no slouch. We've got to go in there and just execute and do everything we can to win.
Coach Doeren hasn’t lost in Chapel Hill. Is he on you guys to keep the perfect record going?
Like I said, we don't really pay attention to things like that. We’re just trying to better ourselves as a team, as a unit, and make sure we go in there and just take care of business.
Where everything falls at, that’s where it falls.
