Steere Mulling Future at NC State

Freshman Ian Steere's career at NC State is in question after the forward left the team this week and is mulling his future in the program.

NC State head coach Kevin Keatts briefly discussed Steere, who wasn't in the arena, after the Wolfpack's 95-49 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

"Ian and I had a discussion yesterday about what his future may be here at NC State," Keatts stated.  "Without going into too many details because I don’t want to give out too much on our private conversation, I told him to sit back and take a couple days and decide if this is the best fit for him or if there’s another place that he feels like he could go."

Steere scored four points and hauled in four rebounds in five minutes of play in the Wolfpack’s season opener against Mount Saint Mary’s.  He was the No. 3 player in NC State's big man rotation behind Wyatt Walker and DJ Funderburk.

"I don’t know where his head’s at," Keatts added.  "I plan on having a conversation with him on Monday. I wanted him to take a couple days and make sure that he was still excited about being at NC State."
