NC State Receives No. 16 Overall Seed, Raleigh Regional Announced

NC State (40-16) faltered in the ACC Baseball Championship but was still able to secure the No. 16 overall seed in the 2018 NCAA Baseball Tournament.  The host of the Raleigh Regional, the Wolfpack will be the No. 1 seed with SEC power Auburn earning the No. 2 seed. 

NC State will open play against No. 4 seed Army (36-22) with No. 2 seed Auburn (39-21) taking on No. 3 seed Northeastern (36-19).

The winner of the Raleigh Regional will face the winner of the Gainesville Regional that features No. 1 overall seed Florida (42-17).  Regional play begins Friday afternoon.

ECU has a brutal regional. Auburn is a tough out but doable. We'd have to beat Florida at some point to get to where we want to go. Plus it will give us a chance to get back at them for this!

I disagree. I feel like they hold him for Saturday but I could be totally wrong. Mize no hit Northeastern earlier this year so my guess is they throw their #2.

Northeastern's #1 is pretty good so if they don't throw him, they could very well lose. Tough decision. Looking at Mize's stats, he has a 3.07 ERA, 10 walks, 140 K's, so obviously teams have gotten hit him a little bit, considering he literally doesn't walk anybody. 200 BAA for Mize

Another question is, who does Avent go with? Brown has been really bad in his last few starts, Piedmonte you can't rely on him here recently because of his injury, Bienlien has been up & down all year, so you don't know what to expect from him, Johnston & Harrison are Freshman, enough said, & then he may have others to choose from, but who. We may have to play solid defense & slug our way to wins. Lets just hope the offense comes out of its slump & wakes up or one or two of our pitchers throws the game of their career. If not it could be a long weekend, or short depending on how you look at things.

140 strike outs to 10 walks? Sheesh.

my guess, I am not thinking Piedmonte can start and read different things on Beinlein health

with pitching depth, or lack thereof, NC State has to win Friday and Saturday. 5 games in 4 days I do not think NC State has pitching depth to advance with Friday or Saturday loss. Pack9 might be able to do a Sunday game loss and a Monday game only because other team will be playing 5th game in 4 days on Monday

I disagree. I think there's a misconception we don't have depth. Johnston, Brown, Klyman, O'Donnell are our four best pitchers. After that you've got Harrison, Bienlien, Justice, Clenney, Centala, Gauthier, Swiney, Piedmonte who can all go 3-4 innings. None of them are great, but they are depth. Go look at other teams, our depth is fine. Obviously we're in trouble if we don't win the first two, but so is every other team. We've got plenty of pitching to come back, just a matter of if guys can step up.

We got a steal playing Army too, I think we can get away with not throwing any of the top 4 guys (they have nine home runs all year). We played Navy two years ago and that conference is terrible. I'd probably start Harrison in that game. Then you've got Brown Saturday and Johnston Sunday. No chance that happens though
