IPS IN 5: Checking In On Wolfpack Baseball

The coaching staff has a ton of inside baseball on both of these guys as the kid from San Jose state's pitching coach was former State pitcher and coach Josh Pike. I'm pretty sure Pike played with JT in HS as well. We got all the info we'd ever need on him.

There are so many variables that goes into a pitcher.

You can literally change an arm slot, gain some velo, learn a new pitch, rely more on a certain pitch/quit throwing a certain pitch and become a totally different guy.

What kind of ballpark was he playing in before? What kind of defense did he have behind him? Was he hurt? Just so many different factors.

We aren't going to win the portal sweepstakes for high end weekend arms that can take you to Omaha. We have to invest every year in high level HS pitching prospects. Yes they cost money but you have to have them and it is our best pathway to get them.
Then, we add portal arms to fill in the gaps in the pitching staff. Unfortunately this year we are trying to build an entire pitching staff from the portal essentially.
