NC State head coach Elliott Avent met with IPS to discuss the 3-1 loss to Georgia Tech on the road.

Elliott, a really tough loss, you out-hit them, but you just couldn't quite get that hit to get those last few runs in.
Two good pitchers going at it, I'm really proud of Ryan Marohn. They got the win with howling out the right field. They got a couple of balls out to right early, and for the three spot, and that's a great offense they got. And then he just really, really was dominant from the second inning on.
Just really proud of Ryan Marohn for keeping us there and giving us an opportunity. We had some people on there in the eighth, and something just couldn't get the big hits. But like I say, two great pitchers going at it, and a great matchup. But anyway, Ryan did a hell of a job. Danny Heintz came in, and Sam came in and did a good job. And obviously, Potts kept this offense down, but we couldn't scratch enough across.
Is that one of the better bullpen performances you've had this year?
I think so, we're still trying to figure the bullpen out. I thought all three guys came in and did a heck of a job.
You guys, where are you at with it? Is it concern, or is it baseball's ebbs and flows? Where are you at with this? Are you at that point where you're worried, or are you just—
No, no, this league is so unbelievable. I was talking to Danny Hall, the longtime 32-year coach here at Georgia Tech, before the game, and he thinks the league might be as solid as it's ever been. And we know what a great league it is, and top to bottom it's probably the best it's ever been. And no, we're playing well, it's just this is a tough league, and every night it's a tough game.
This was always gonna be a tough two-weekend stretch. How do you think you're doing so far with it?
We're playing well, I mean, we played well in Florida State until that last game, played well tonight. Just going back to Tallahassee, to Georgia Tech, and back-to-back road trips. We've asked not to have them in the ACC for a while, but it seems like we keep getting them. I don't know.
So tomorrow, you're gonna come back out here, evening game, just mindset. You guys think you've got the juice to win this series?
Well, we just gotta keep playing well. It's a great club on the other side there, and we just gotta keep playing well.
They're supposedly the, I guess, Tech and FSU were supposedly top tier. Where's State at? Are you right there with them?
I think so, I made this whole league. Boston College, we played them early in Virginia. This league is just. Notre Dame's playing late right now. This league's very tough.
