Ipsen Named ACC Swim/Dive Scholar-Athlete of the Year
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Anton Ipsen has been named the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row, as announced Thursday by the conference. The Wolfpack also had 20 student-athletes earn All-ACC Academic honors.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, established in September 2007, recognize the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports each year.
Ipsen, a senior majoring in industrial engineering from Birkerod, Denmark, won an NCAA title in the 1,650 freestyle along with earning All-America honors in the 500 freestyle and All-America Honorable Mention honors in the 400 IM. Ipsen was an ACC Champion in the 1,650 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 400 IM and 800 freestyle relay.
Additionally, 20 were named to the All-ACC Academic Team. Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
