What did it feel like to score your first touchdown at NC State?
It feels amazing, man. It feels amazing to come here and actually get to score and put on. That's a milestone for me. Many more to come.
Obviously, you've done it a lot at the collegiate level, but what did it mean to do it inside Carter-Finley Stadium and hear the fans roar behind you?
It feels amazing. We've got a great fan base. They were very supportive.
Being able to go out there and reach that milestone for the first time here at Carter-Finley feels great.
Was that celebration something you came up with in the moment, or something you've been holding onto?
That's something I've been waiting for. I had that in the bag.
I've got a lot of celebrations in the bag. I'm sitting here waiting to showcase them, so when I get in there, just be ready for it. It might be anything. I'm going to keep it good, though.
Is dancing kind of your family M.O.?
Yeah, that's the way I usually do it. I do that all the time, just walking around everybody. I dance a lot, man. I like to get everybody else dancing. I like that.
Who's the best dancer when you're being serious?
I think I am. Me personally, I think I am.
I really dance a lot, so it comes with me.
How do you feel like you've developed since you've started playing games and facing real opponents?
I feel like I've developed a lot and understand the game better. Coming here, things move a little faster, so it's been a pretty good transition getting used to it and everything like that.
Have you seen CJ Bailey improve as a passer downfield as the season has gone on?
I really feel like he was already a great passer when I first met him.
I worked with him a lot in the spring. He's really been there. It was just a matter of the opportunity coming for him to throw the ball downfield.
I feel like he can execute at a high level throwing the ball. That connection with him is really amazing. To actually complete it in games and stuff like that, we were just waiting on it.
What was it like watching that touchdown pass come down? It was more of a moon ball than a straight shot. Did it feel like forever waiting on it?
It was a major focus thing.
Seeing the ball going up there, you've got to keep your eye on it. You've got to make sure you catch it. It's in the end zone, so you've got to make sure you catch it, get in there, celebrate as much as you can, have fun, and have a great moment.
Were there butterflies as you watched it come down?
Not really. It was just a lock-in moment.
The ball's coming. It's there for me. The opportunity is there, and it's one of the only opportunities you'll get.
I always think about making the most of the opportunity you have. That was a big moment, and I wanted to make the most of the opportunity.
Have you started scouting Wake Forest? What are your thoughts on them?
We're scouting them, paying attention to them, working on the details, and focusing on being more disciplined.
That's the word: discipline.
You've got to stay disciplined against these guys, stay focused, and make sure we do everything right on the field.
There's obviously a difference between being 3-3 and 4-2. NC State always says every game is a big game. Does that mentality help in a situation like this, when this really is a big game?
Every game is a big game for us.
We come in with the mentality that every game is a big game. The next game up is our biggest game, so we're really focusing on who we have at that moment.
This game is the biggest game we have all year.
Is there anything specific about Wake Forest's defense that's sticking out to you?
Not really. We're really just scheming them up right now.
This is your first year with this program and your first time playing an ACC team from within the state. What have you heard about those in-state rivalries?
They say it's been a long rivalry, and it's big for us.
At Alcorn, the Jackson State-Alcorn rivalry is really big, so I've been through that one. I'm used to rivalries and stuff like that.
They say this rivalry is pretty big, so we've got to focus in and make sure we win this game.
What do you feel is the biggest area you've developed since you got to NC State that has helped you get on the field?
Really locking in, taking care of myself, and focusing on the plays.
You've got to learn the plays to be able to play, so it's locking in on the playbook, getting my plays down, and making sure I know what I'm doing out there because it moves pretty fast out here.
