RELEASE: Anderson Nance Named to Second Freshman All-American Team
After garnering Freshman All-American honors from the NCBWA, Anderson Nance again receives recognition for his freshman season as he was named a Perfect Game Second-Team Freshman All-American.
It is the third straight year the Wolfpack has had a freshman named to multiple All-American teams. Nance joins teammates Jacob Dudan (2024) and Dominic Fritton (2023), who have also been honored on the current roster.
Nance becomes the sixth Perfect Game Freshman All-American for NC State and the 22nd freshman All-American under head coach Elliott Avent.
His eight wins in 2025 were the most by a Wolfpack freshman since Sam Highfill won nine games in 2021. Highfill shares the record with Carlos Rodon, who went 9-0 in 2012 during his freshman campaign.
Nance's eight wins ranked sixth in the ACC, and he was just one of seven freshmen in the country with at least eight wins. He finished with one save and a 3.50 ERA, accumulating 53 strikeouts over 54.0 innings of work and held opposing batters to a .256 average.
The Eden, N.C., native was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team earlier this summer. In his first season with the Wolfpack, Nance pitched at least five innings four times, recording a career-high eight strikeouts against Davidson in March, also marking his first career start.
