NC State senior defensive end Bradley Chubb is excited about the depth the Wolfpack has built along the defensive line.

*****

How is your conditioning?
I am just trying to keep my weight at 273, and just trying to not eat too much to put me over that. I have just got to make sure I stay hydrated and stay at that weight because we check our weight every day to make sure we are hydrated and eating right so I am just trying to maintain my weight that I am at now.

It seems like the NC State defensive line has reached a point where there are no excuses.
Definitely. We have got four seniors on the front line and everybody behind that [group] knows the standard. I know Justin is not going to let me short of that standard and I know I am not going to let Kentavius and B.J. fall short of that standard.

It is the same way for everybody. We are not going to let anybody fall short of that standard. We know in order to be successful we have got to do what makes us right -- do what the defense asks you to do and not veer from that.

How much of an advantage is having the experience on the defensive line?
It is definitely a huge advantage...we have that camaraderie with each other. We know what makes each other go. We know when someone is not feeling it to snap them back into that zone. I feel like it is a huge advantage because we know what each other is like.

Do you guys talk about the prestige the defensive line is getting nationally?
Honestly, when we are all together we don’t talk about football as much as people think we would. We try not to think about that stuff because at the end of the day the only thing that matters is how well we play on that field. Preseason, what everybody is saying about us doesn’t really matter.

How important is the depth on the defensive line?
It is huge because it definitely is a hard position to play, day in and day out, but I feel like the depth is going to be huge and we have a lot of it. I am excited.

Do you ever look at the participation chart to see how many plays you received?
I look at it because it is right there, but I don’t go looking for it but I have looked at it.

Is there a certain number of plays where you start slowing down?
I feel like consecutive plays I have noticed myself fall off a little bit but that is another reason I came back. Those are the plays I left on the field, the ones that I got tired and wanted to come out so that is one of the main reasons I came back so I can get my conditioning up play even when I am tired.
