OL Commit Tyler West: "It's Just Amazing"
NC State’s most recent commitment for the class of 2024 was Andrews (NC) OL Tyler West . The Wolfpack has targeted signing four offensive linemen in this class, and West’s pledge got them three-fourths of the way there.
West landed early offers from Georgia Tech, Duke, Wake Forest, and East Carolina in addition to NC State. In the end, West told Inside Pack Sports that his decision came down to NC State, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest, but his relationship with the coaches at State put it over the top.
“The thing that really sold me on State was all the coaches there,” West told Inside Pack Sports. “They’re all great guys. You get just like a big family feel when I go up there, and it’s just amazing.”
From the coaching staff, offensive line coach Garett Tujague headed up West’s recruiting. The relationship he built with West along with his resume of developing offensive linemen helped solidify a commitment.
“Me and coach Tujague built a really good relationship over the last few months. We talk just about every day. You can just tell that he’s a great coach. He knows what he’s doing and he’s been doing it for a very long time.
“Me and coach Tujague talked about it and he can definitely see me playing tackle for him. He believes he can develop me into a very elite tackle.”
Now officially a part of the Pack, West said he has high expectations for NC State headed into the new season.
“The sky's the limit, really. We can be as great as we want to be.
“I’m planning to come up for some games this fall. I’m just trying to figure out which date is best. I’m really excited to get up there for a game because that environment is amazing. I’m wanting to come for the Notre Dame game. That’s the one I want to come to, and I think we have a bye week that week so it might work out perfect.”
West said he does not plan to visit any other schools and considers his recruitment closed.
