The NC State men's and women's track and field teams set four personal-bests and recorded eight podium finishes on the first day at the Virginia Tech Elite and the JDL DMR Invitational.
Throws: The Pack tallied two podium finishes in women's weight throw.
Lauren Evans earned her 11th gold-medal performance of the season, throwing for a 66'7" (20.29m) mark. Throwing a personal-best 60'7.75" (18.48m),
Grace Gaudin recorded her third podium finish of the season, finishing third in the event. Evans and Gaudins both threw top-10 marks in the NC State records books at third and seventh respectively.
Tyson Fortenberry placed third in men's weight throw with a 57'4.75" (17.49m) mark. Setting a personal-best,
Gabriel King recorded a 51'11" (15.82m) throw.
Jumps: Mikieja Covington's 18'4.25" (5.60m) mark earned a top-five finish.
Sprints: Gabriele Cunningham,
Janel Pate, and
Kylia Wright qualified for the women's 60m dash final with times of 7.33, 7.78, and 7.80. Taking home the 60m dash title, Cunningham clocked a 7.34 in the final. Cunningham's times rank second and third in program history.
Alexis Postell checked in at No. 5 in NC State history with a time of 8.74 in the women's 60m hurdles prelims, a personal-best. Clocking an 8.79 in the finals, Postell earned a second-place finish.
Cunningham would collect her second podium finish of the day in the women's 200m dash. Placing third, she recorded a time of 24.18, sixth-best in the NC State record books.
Relays: The men's 4000m DMR relay consisting of
Philip Hall,
Will Hoffmann,
Ares Epps, and
Ian Shanklin won the race with an unconverted time of 9:55.47 at the JDL DMR Inviational. Their time was almost nine seconds ahead of the next finishers (William & Mary - 10:04.13)
The Pack recorded a top-five finish in the women's invite 4000m DMR.
Anna Vess,
Jada Griffin,
Julia Zachgo, and
Nevada Mareno clocked in at 11:34.63 uncoverted, the eighth-fastest time in school history.
Pole Vault: Grant Rivers recorded a personal-best 14'5.25" (4.40m) mark on his way to a first-place finish.
