Pratt: "We Try To Win The Day"
NC State senior linebacker Germaine Pratt sat down with the media at ACC Football Kickoff. Here is a lot of what he had to say on a variety of topics.
“[We want to] go to the ACC Championship, then see what’s after that, and then win the championship. Our goal is to be the best version of N.C. State we can be. Every day we come out, we try to win the day. We take it one day at a time.”
“I think we just need to focus on one day at a time. When we get to the week, we prepare one day at a time then focus on one game at a time. Don’t look ahead; just take it one day at a time.”
“I think we always have confidence no matter what. No matter what team we play, we’re always going to have confidence.”
“When I first got here, we didn’t even go to a bowl game. Then we went to three straight bowl games, and we just keep on improving. More people want to come to Raleigh now instead of leaving home. People that have gotten drafted, Nyheim Hines, Kentavius Street, B.J. Hill; they stayed home because they wanted to play here. We’re about to make something special here in Raleigh.”
“Our motivation starts with ourselves. You’ve got to motivate yourself. You see four of those guys go to the league, then what are you going to do? I want to go to the league, too. So that should drive them. It doesn’t matter what outsiders say. It’s about internally. Internally, stay focused, trust God, and believe that you can do whatever you want to do in life.”
“You can’t look at like, ‘Oh, we lost so many people; we need to take a step back.” The standard is still the standard. You know you lost one of the best defensive players in college football last year, Bradley Chubb. But then you got a reward. You see how he worked in practice, so you learn from him. You see where he did great things, and that should push you. He gave you nuggets before he left, so you should use those tools against other people. You played against the same people he played against last year, so you should use that motivation to drive you to be great."
