Just saw Brooke Chapman took 1st place in the 800m at the Delaware County HS Qualifier held on Sun Jan 18, 2026 with a time of 2:25.33.

Brooke Chapman ran the GVSU MITS #4 1 mile in 5:08.86 placing 17th. Race was held sat Jan 24 at Grand Valley State University in Allendale Michigan.

In case WPN is wondering why Maddie Gullickson who placed 7th at Brooks Fleet Feet Nationals (formerly Footlocker) hasn't ran any races recently, she has transition to Nordic Skiing for winter.

Nordic Skiing is an incredible way for a young distance runner to stay fit, build aerobic capacity and strength without running their legs dead. Nice option to have.

Good news on Morgan Miller of First Flight HS, she's back racing after missing the 2025 XC season. She placed 1st in the 1600m in 5:18.19 and also placed 1st in the 3200m in 11:21.02. She competed in the Lambert Timing Indoor track meet held at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton Virginia on sat Jan 30.

Morgan Miller of First Flight HS ran a SB 5:05.03 in the 1600m placing 3rd at the 63rd East Coast Invitational in Virginia Beach, VA. Held at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex on Feb 7th.

Brooke Chapman of Olentangy Orange HS ran in the SPIRE Scholastic Showcase meet in Geneva, OH on Feb 7th. She ran 5:02.68 placing 4th in the 1600m. Meet held at the SPIRE Academy Indoor Track.

For Wolfpack fans in the Winston-Salem area, if you want to get an early glimpse of class of 2026 WP recruit Morgan Miller is competing tomorrow Feb 12th at JDL in the NCHSAA 4A indoor Championships. She'll race in the 1600m at 6:00pm and then race the 3200m at 7:05pm. (Coincidentally, Touhy, Elly Henes, Putman, Gapes, Napoleon, Engelhardt, and Michalak will be racing at JDL on Feb 14th). Morgan Miller of First Flight HS raced in the NCSHSAA 4A indoor championships today taking 1st place in the 3200m in 10:52.86 (a 29 sec improvement on her SB!). She also placed 2nd in the 1600m in 5:14.92.
Held at JDL Fasttrack in Winston-Salem.

Maddie Gullickson of Wayzata HS in Plymouth, MN raced in the MSHSL Nordic Skiing State Championships in Biwabik, MN on feb 12th. She raced in the 5k pursuit, placing 17th (out of 110) in a time of 16:48. (Stunning coincidence but her 5k XC PR is almost identical at 16:49.50 when she won NXR-Heartland).

Athletic.net fixed Morgan Miller time and she ran 10:52.86 and this qualifies Morgan for New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston on Mar 12-15th. Her 5:05.03 in the 1600m qualifies her for the 1 mile.

Maddie Gullickson (Wayzata HS, MN):
Maddie Gullickson (if the Nordic ski season is done) has also qualified for Nike Indoor nationals at the Armory in NYC onMar 12-15th based on taking top 15 at NXr. Maddie of course won NXR-heartland.

Brooke Chapman (Olentangy Orange HS, OH):
Brooke has qualified for New Balance 1 mile based on her 1600m time of 5:02.68. She also qualified for Nike Indoor nationals 5000m based on taking 9th at NXR-Midwest.

Mallory Weller (Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran HS, IN) ran the 1600m in 4:52.89 taking 1st place.

Olentangy Orange posted that Brooke will in fact compete at New Balance Indoor Nationals in the 1 mile on Sunday march 15 in Boston (start time is 11:49am). Heat sheets have not been posted so can't confirm which heat she's in. Heat sheets should be posted by wed march 11. Go Pack!

Morgan Miller (First Flight HS, NC) will be competing in the 2 mile today at New Balance Indoor Nationals in heat #9. Heat 1 starts at 2:04pm which puts heat#9 at approximately 3:40.

Morgan Miller just ran her indoor PB of 10:39.86 at New Balance indoor nationals 2 mile, taking 10th place in heat#9. This was a 6 second indoor PB and a SB of 14 seconds!

Missed this but Mallory Weller on Friday Mar 13th anchored the 1600m leg of the DMR in 4:46.376 (which is a 6 second SB!). Younger sister Daphne Weller (1200m), Maddie Gentz (400m) and Brylee Crass (800m) took 2nd place in 11:42.839. The time is #2 in the nation.

New Balance Indoor nationals finished with ALL 3 recruits getting their season's best (SB) in the mile!

Morgan Miller (First Flight HS, NC): ran in Heat#8 in 5:00:57 improving on her previous SB of 5:01.08. She took 9th in the heat and 87th overall.

Brooke Chapman (Olentangy Orange HS, OH): ran in heat#11 4:50.79 improving on her previous SB of 5:08.86. She placed 5th in the heat and 26th overall.

Mallory Weller (Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran HS, IN): ran in the championship heat#13 in 4:44.20 (it was her 1st mile of the season and hence a SB). She placed 9th in the heat and 9th overall.

Congrats on their performances! None of the recruits are entered in next week's Addidas Indoor Nationals so on to the outdoor season where they'll be joined by Maddie Gullickson who's competing in Nordic Skiing.

The Feb 2026 track and field news lists their top 10 HS returners for the outside season. (Note: the lists were prepared prior to indoor nationals).

Brooke Chapman is the #1 returner in the 2000 steeplechase in 6:36.96!

Stunned that out of the top5 NCAA XC teams NONE made the top 10 in the 3200m. The top 5 XC teams are NC State, BYU, ORE, New Mexico and Florida. While we did not make top10, for the first time since we recruited Maddie, Mallory, Brooke, and Morgan they are all healthy (knock on wood), fit and racing in the outdoor season. The outdoor season will be when we see how we rank vs the other schools in the top10.

Out of the top5 XC schools, Ore is the wildcard because they recruit internationally and recruit heavily in the transfer portal. I think Ore will recruit 1 - maybe 2 - international elite runners like they did last year and could move up in the rankings. Int'l recruiting is quite different. US recruits commit primarily in fall of their senior year, almost a full year before they arrive on campus. Int'l recruits can be on your campus next week (like Ore and Ala did last year).

I encourage people to review the spreadsheet but know surprise recruits late in spring will alter other teams.
