NC State women's soccer goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The senior anchored the Pack in a 1-0-1 week that included the team's first ACC win of the season and its first top-10 draw since 2022.

I still find it difficult to comprehend why the ACC women's soccer tournament only includes 6 of the 17 teams while the men's bracket includes all 15 of their teams.

NC State women's soccer stuns No. 12 Wake Forest 2-1 at home

Fantastic win," said head coach Gary Higgins. "Obviously, Wake Forest had an exceptional team; national championship game last year. It seems like they just reloaded and kept on going. So we had to dig deep, especially in the second half there. But I'm really proud of the girls for staying disciplined."

Obviously, a difficult time to concede as we get into half-time," Higgins said. "I thought we were definitely the better team in the first half, for sure. We dominated that first 30 minutes, and put a little bit too much pressure in the last 15 minutes. Just so many goals scored in the last five minutes of halves that we need to be a little bit more disciplined and aggressive."

The Wolfpack's next game is on Thursday, Oct. 9, as they travel to Massachusetts to face Boston College.

NC State junior forward Jade Bordeleau and North Carolina junior forward Olivia Thomas have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Wolfpack senior goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played between September 29-October 5.

CO-OFFENSIVE Jade Bordeleau, Jr., F, NC State (Terrabonne, Quebec, Canada)
Scored both goals in the victory over No. 12 Wake Forest on Thursday.
Converted a penalty in the ninth minute and netted the eventual game-winner in the 10th minute.
The win marked NC State's first ranked win since 2021.
Currently leads the team with eight goals this season, tied for the most by a Wolfpack player since 2022.

DEFENSIVE Olivia Pratapas, Sr., GK, NC State (Clemmons, North Carolina)
Stopped eight shots in Thursday's 2-1 victory over No. 12 Wake Forest.
Seven of her eight saves came in the second half to help secure the win.
Her eight saves marked a season high and are the most by an ACC goalkeeper in a conference win this season.
