Josh Hogue: "We're Forming A Good Team"

NC State outfielder Josh Hogue met with the media to discuss his return from injury, the start of the season, and much more.

What was the mindset, I guess, during your rehab and recovery, to kind of get a little feedback on the situation? 

Just to come out here and play with them and compete, really. Something I love doing, and I'm just glad to be back. 
 

You talked about watching the World Series on TV. They had your jersey in the dugout. What did that mean to you? 

It meant that I was still a part of the team; even though I was miles away, I was still there, supporting them. 
 

What's the ceiling for this team? Do you think of those terms yet? 

We're just going to go out and compete every day.
 

How are you doing? Are you getting better and better every day? Are you seeing a difference? 

Yeah, I'm getting better every day. I'm picking up speed, and I'm ready to go. 
 

What's your impressions of the new teammates? 

Really good. I think we're bonding really well together, and I think we're forming a good team. 
 

You're going through issues, and you feel like you've got a lot of support from the fan base and from the community around here?

Yeah, of course. I feel like our fan base is very supportive, and they've got our back.
 

How have you seen Alex Sosa take a step forward, especially in his sophomore year? 

From a confidence standpoint, and being more of a leader this year compared to last year, it's pretty night and day. I mean, talent, you know he has it, and it's going to show. The transfer portal era can be hard to maintain that chemistry when so many guys are coming in and out each year.
 

How does this program do that and help you guys bond really well? 

We spend a lot of time together, whether it be just here on the field in the locker room, or we're going to dinner together, going bowling. We'll find something to do all together. 
 

What does that say about the culture of the program, that you're all able to get that done? 

Even history is gone, and we've proven that we've done that. I'm excited. 
 

If you have a big year, who's more famous at your high school, you or Jacoby Brissett? 

Sorry, repeat that? 
 

Who's more famous at your high school if you have a big year, you or Jacoby Brissett? Because he went to your school, right? 

Palm Beach Gardens? 
 

Yeah. 

I'm not too sure about that.
 

I think he did.

Maybe me. 
 

He was a quarterback here who made the NFL.
