GOLD for Australian Kaylee McKeown in the 100 back in 57.33 which matches what used to be her WR in the event before American Regan Smith broke it at U.S. trials.

Smith takes silver, fellow American Katharine Berkoff gets bronze.

.@NCState alum Katharine Berkoff takes bronze in the 100 backstroke in Paris, becoming the first woman with Wolfpack ties since 1984--and only the second in history--to medal at the Olympics. The other was Joan Benoit, who won the goal medal in the inaugural women's marathon at the Los Angeles Games.

Great race by all three medalists. Looked like KB had the lead with about 20 meters to go but the Aussie turned it up a gear.

Very proud of Katherine!! Great job young lady, you gave it your all and it wasn't quite enough but a bronze medal in the Olympics pretty damn good!
