The 2024 Men's NCAA Championships began with an American Record falling in the 200-medley relay and a ninth-place finish in the 800-freestyle relay as the Wolfpack kicked off day one from the Indiana University Natatorium.

Aiden Hayes started the 200-medley relay with the fastest 50 backstroke in history, clocking 20.07. Sam Hoover (23.40), Luke Miller (19.35), and Quintin McCarty (18.16) followed to finish with a combined time of 1:20.98 to set the American record. This same group briefly claimed the record at the ACC Championships before being overtaken, but now the record is theirs.

Their time, which was also the second fastest in program history, placed the Wolfpack on the podium in third place and gave each of them All-American status.

This marks the 15th time the Wolfpack men have finished in the top eight of the 200 medley relay, and the 11th straight year they have done so.

The Wolfpack just missed the podium in the second event of the night, claiming ninth in the 800-freestyle relay. Their entry time was 6:10.22, but they dropped 1.44 to complete the event in 6:08.78, finishing behind Stanford, who finished at 6:08.77.

Kacper Stokowski started the relay with a 1:31.85, Luke Miller went 1:31.78 with Arsenio Bustos going 1:32.63 and freshman Daniel Diehl in his first NCAA Championship anchored and wrapped things up with a 1:31.52.

After night one the Wolfpack stand in a tie for fifth place with Texas at 50 points.

Between three individual events and one American record relay, the Wolfpack men reached the podium twice, totaling five All-American and Honorable Mention All-American Awards on night two of the NCAA Championships.

The night was capped off with the 200 freestyle relay, in which NC State went on and beat the American record they set at the ACC Championships. The relay team of Noah Henderson, Luke Miller, Jerry Fox, and Quintin McCarty combined to go 1:14.13, dropping .31 from their previous record of 1:14.44

For the fourth time in his career, Arsenio Bustos is an All-American. He does so in the 200 IM for the second straight year after securing fourth place. Bustos reached the podium with a personal best and the second-fastest time in program history, clocking 1:39.83.

In prelims, Bustos finished first in his heat as Daniel Diehl made the B-final cut with a personal best of 1:41.84. Diehl would finish 16th in the B-final with a time of 1:43.60 for honorable mention All-American honors.

The day started with a personal best and a top 10 time in program history as Lance Norris won the second heat in the 500 YD Freestyle, swimming a 4:15.51. With an entry time of 4:17.00, Norris dropped 1.49 off his time and now owns the ninth-fastest time in program history.

In heat four of the 500 YD freestyle preliminaries, the Wolfpack had three swimmers compete and once again saw a first-place finish, with Plage finishing in 4:12.97, giving him 15th overall and making the B-final. He was followed by Ross Dant (4:13.94) and Owen Lloyd (4:19.15)

Plage went on to finish eighth in the B-final with a time of 4:15.73 for 16th overall and honorable mention All-American honors.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Quintin McCarty represented the Wolfpack in the B-final, clocking a 19.23 to finish 16th. In the preliminaries, Jerry Fox and Sam Hoover secured new personal bests. In the second heat, Hoover came in first at 19.33, and Fox, three heats later, threw down a 19.09 to finish second behind teammate Noah Henderson, who swam a 19.05.

A successful night sees the Wolfpack move to sixth place in the standings with 98 points.

For the ninth consecutive year, head coach Braden Holloway has led the Wolfpack to a top-10 finish as NC State concluded the NCAA Swim and Dive Championships in fifth place on Saturday Night after four days of competition at the Indiana University Natatorium.

As they had done all week, the Wolfpack put three more swimmers and a relay team on the podium, Saturday night and had three swims in the B-final to help the Pack put up a total of 318 points over the course of the week.

Defending national champion in the 200 butterfly, Aiden Hayes reached the podium for the third time this week with a third-place finish swimming a 1:39.16. Noah Bowers was also in the final and finished sixth at 1:39.94, giving him his second straight year with All-American status in the event.

Kacper Stokowski found himself among the top eight in the country once again after finishing fifth in the 200 backstroke, clocking a 1:38.15. Stokowski set a personal best during preliminaries at 1:37.90, the second fastest time in program history.

Kyle Ponsler started the day in the first heat of the 200 backstroke, finishing first with a new personal best of 1:42.50. Hunter Tapp, in lane one of the sixth and final heat of the event, finished seventh in 1:40.81.

Luke Miller, Daniel Diehl, and Arsenio Bustos made it to the B-final on Saturday night. Diehl, who set a personal best in the 200 backstroke at 1:39.01 during preliminaries, finished 15th overall, giving the freshman three top-16 finishes in his first NCAA Championships appearance.

In the 100 freestyle, Miller managed a personal best in the preliminaries, going 41.37 to place 11th overall. He followed that up with a ninth-place finish in the nightcap to win the B-final with a time of 41.27. He remains the third-fastest swimmer in the event in program history.

Seven Wolfpack swimmers competed in the 100 freestyle, setting new personal bests throughout. Freshman Jerry Fox won heat six with a personal best of 41.81, placing him 17th and just missing the B-final cut. Sam Hoover went 41.98 in that same heat, also setting a new personal best.

Drew Salls (42.69), Noah Henderson (42.49), Quintin McCarty, and Hudson Williams (42.11) all swam in the 100 freestyle as well.

Arsenio Bustos was the lone Wolfpack in the 200 breaststroke and made sure to let everyone know. He won the consolation final with the fastest time in program history, 1:50.49. It was Bustos' third honorable mention honor of the week.

In the 1650 freestyle, four NC State swimmers turned out strong performances, led by Owen Lloyd in fifth place as he swam a personal best of 14:39.18. Lance Norris and Ross Dant followed Lloyd with honorable mention All-American honors, with Norris setting a personal best in 13th place with a time of 14:44.85 and Dant in 15th at 14:46.76.
