The NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Committee announced its selection of swimmers to compete at the 2024 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday with nine swimmers representing the Wolfpack women at this year's national meet.

Taking place at the Jack Bauerle Pool in Athens, Ga. on the campus of the University of Georgia, the Women's Championship will run from Wednesday, March 20, through Saturday, March 23.

NC State will also have the opportunity to send divers after next week's Zone B diving Championships through qualification.

Highlighting the individual events is Katharine Berkoff, who will swim in three events and go for her third NCAA championship in 100 backstroke after winning in 2021 and 2022.

Abby Arens and Kennedy Noble return to the NCAA Championships after finishing 12th and 14th in last year's 200 IM. Arens will swim in the 100 butterfly again, where she finished ninth last season. Noble took 11th place in the 100 backstroke and fifth in the 200 backstroke last year and will appear in both events again this season.

The Wolfpack made the most of night two, as two program records were set, and Katharine Berkoff claimed second in the 50 YD freestyle to give NC State its first podium finish of the week.

Berkoff had already held the Wolfpack 50 freestyle record at 21.14 coming into the night. With the finish, Berkoff earned her 26th overall All-American status and fifth straight year as an All-American in the 50 freestyle.

Berkoff breezed to the championship final, placing second overall and first in her heat in the 50-yard freestyle with a 21.23. Abby Arens, who also swam in the event, finished 18th with a new best time of 21.94.

Three personal bests were set to start day two, with Emma Hastings, Kennedy Noble, and Arens all recording top times in their respective events.

Hastings started the day with a top-25 finish in the women's 500 YD freestyle. Finishing first in heat three, Hastings posted a 4:40.67 for a new best by nearly a second. Her time gave her 23rd place and is the sixth fastest time in program history.

The first final appearance of the week was secured by Noble, who booked her spot in the consolation final with a fourth-place finish in heat nine and was 12th overall with a personal best of 1:54.62 in the 200 IM.

Her personal best didn't last long as Noble came out and won the B-final, but she did so by setting a program record in the 200 YD IM. Noble finished ninth with a time of 1:53.72, the fastest time ever by Wolfpack women.

The night ended with the Wolfpack on the podium with a seventh-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay. Led by Berkoff and a 21.32 split, Arens (21.54), followed by Meghan Donald (21.98) and Sheehan (21.91), closing it out.

For the third time in her career, Katharine Berkoff is a national champion as the fifth year from Missoula, Mont., took home first in the 100 YD backstroke with a time of 48.55, setting a program record and led the Wolfpack on night three of the championships.

Berkoff advanced to the finals after setting the Georgia pool record in the prelims, swimming a 49.34 to finish first overall in seven heats. She bested that time in the finals to set the records once again. The win gives Berkoff the title in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Abby Arens just missed out on the A-final of the 100 YD butterfly by .03 hundredths of a second, but her time of 51.10 during preliminaries gave her the ninth-best time in the event. In that B-final, Arens finished 15th with a time of 51.55, earning her All-American honorable mentions.

The night ended with the Wolfpack earning sixth place and a spot on the podium in the 400-meter relay. The relay team of Berkoff, Arens, Noble, and Annabel Crush combined to swim a 3:27.12 to secure valuable points for the team.

The Wolfpack women wrapped up the NCAA Swim and Dive Championships with a strong showing on the fourth and final day, finishing on the podium twice and moving their team score to 162 points, closing out the week in ninth place.

Despite being the smallest team seeded to score within the top 15 the Wolfpack women went on to finish among the top 10 for the fifth straight year.

As she had done all week, Katharine Berkoff continued to break her own records, with the latest coming in the 100 YD freestyle when she did it in both the preliminaries and the finals. Finishing first in her heat at 46.65 to start the day she went on to secure her spot on the podium with a second-place finish, breaking the record she set in prelims going 46.23 and securing her fifth All-American honor of the meet.

Kennedy Noble found herself in the final once again this week, swimming in the final heat, this time in the 200 backstroke. With a 1:49.78, Noble finished second overall in the preliminary races, setting a personal best and becoming just the second Wolfpack women swimmer in program history to go sub 1:50.50. She followed it up with a school record of 1:48.43 and placing second on the podium.

Emma Hastings swam a personal best and the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 1650 freestyle final. Hastings went 15.59.69, dropping 9.57 from her previous best, and finished 13th overall for honorable All-American honors.

In her first National Championship appearance, freshman Bayleigh Cranford competed in the 3m and platform diving competition. She placed 38th in the platform and 44th in the 3m.

The night ended with the 400 freestyle relay team of Berkoff, Noble, Abby Arens, and Annabel Crush going 3:11.77, dropping 0.63 from their entry time they placed 12th and once again brought honorable mentions All-American status for the Wolfpack.

Five program records were set over the course of the week, including the 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 and 200 backstroke, all broken by either Berkoff or Noble.

With 30 All-American Awards, Berkoff is one of the most decorated Wolfpack women swimmers in history finishing her career just shy of Kylee Alons (31) for most All-American recognitions in program history.

Grace Sheble performed well over the week, swimming in the 200 and 400 IM and the 200 Butterfly.

Freshman Miriam Sheehan got a taste of swimming in a national championship, participating in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 200 free relay, and the 100 backstroke.
