Sixth-ranked NC State (23-3, 11-3 ACC) kicks off a weekend of Triangle hoops action on Thursday night when it makes the trip to Chapel Hill for its second regular-season matchup with North Carolina (17-9, 9-5 ACC).
Tip-off between the Wolfpack and the Tar Heels is set for 8 p.m. from Carmichael Arena, and the game will be televised nationally on the ACC Network. Live radio coverage will also be available on WKNC 88.1 FM in Raleigh and on the GoPack and Varsity Network apps.
SERIES HISTORY (NC STATE LEADS 64-54)
Thursday marks the 119th overall meeting between NC State and North Carolina and the second of two regular-season matchups.
The teams have faced off at least once every season since the 1974-75 campaign, the Pack's first year as a varsity team.
NC State won the first meeting of the year, a 63-59 decision on the Wolfpack's home court that featured a showdown between a pair of ranked squads.
The squads split last year's regular-season series, and NC State swept the series the year before in 2021-22.
NC State dropped its last visit to Carmichael Arena, falling by a 56-47 score in that Jan. 15, 2023 trip last year.
The Wolfpack enters Thursday's game with a 20-30 record when playing at UNC. The team has won only one of its last four trips to Chapel Hill.
NC State is 13-9 against the Tar Heels under the leadership of Coach Moore
Since the start of the 2016-17 season, the Pack has been ranked in the AP Top 25 in 15 of 17 meetings against North Carolina, including Thursday's game.
Thursday will be the 107th time that at least one of the two squads is ranked in the AP Top 25 at the time of competition. NC State and UNC have only faced off as a pair of unranked teams 12 times in the previous 118 meetings
The Wolfpack has the 39-11 advantage in games during which it is ranked and UNC is unranked.
