NC State men's basketball picked up its second-straight victory on Tuesday night with a come-from-behind 83-76 win over in-state foe Wake Forest at PNC Arena.

The Pack trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half and as much as 11 in the second half, but NC State ended the game with a 17-7 run over the final 3:15 to secure its best start in ACC play since the 1988-89 season.

DJ Horne led the Pack in scoring for the second time in as many games, finishing the evening with 21 points while Ben Middlebrooks, Jayden Taylor, and DJ Burns each finished in double figures as well with 14, 12, and 10, respectively. Mohamed Diarra contributed a game-high 13 rebounds for the Pack while Horne and Burns each passed out a pair of assists to aide a strong offensive showing for NC State.

A fast-paced first half saw Wake Forest carry a 45-35 lead into the locker room, sparked by the Demon Deacons going 13-for-14 from the free throw line in the opening frame while NC State made just five of its 11 first half free throws.

While the Wolfpack experienced a cold spurt from both the charity stripe and beyond the arc to open the evening, NC State found its groove inside, with 24 of its 35 first-half points coming in the paint.

The Pack carried its strong presence in the paint into the second half, outscoring Wake Forest 50-30 in the lane over the course of the evening.

NC State also shored up its free throw woes in the second half as the Pack converted 20 of its 22 second half free throw attempts.

After trailing for nearly the entirety of the game with the only ties coming at 0-0 and 14-14, NC State fought back to tie the game at 69 and then took its first lead of the contest with 2:17 left on a pair of free throws by Casey Morsell. Morsell's pair of foul shots were the fifth and sixth points of an 8-0 Wolfpack run that sparked the Pack's larger 17-7 spurt.

Despite not making a three-pointer over the 40 minutes of action, NC State was able to ice the game at the free-throw line.

NC State returns to PNC Arena for the fourth time in five games on Saturday, Jan. 20, as Virginia Tech will pay NC State a visit for the sole matchup between the Pack and Hokies this season. Tipoff is slated for noon, with the game broadcast on The CW and a radio stream available through the Wolfpack Sports Network.
