The Pack went on a 10-0 run to retake the lead at 54-48, proceeding to tab 15 of the period's final 18 points and hold its largest lead of the game to that point (59-51) as the third quarter came to a close. The Wolfpack went on to score the first two buckets of the fourth frame to gain a 63-51 edge, the largest advantage it held all night.
What proved to be a game of runs continued in the final period, with Florida State using a 13-4 run to trim the Pack's lead to just three points at 67-64 with 4:38 left in regulation. The Seminoles would outscore the Wolfpack 6-2 over the final two minutes of play to force overtime, and Florida State got the ball back with fewer than 10 seconds remaining and a chance to win before a defensive stop by the Pack forced overtime at 74-74.
NC State opened overtime with just its second three-pointer of the game to take a 77-74 lead and hit its third of the evening just 48 seconds later to move ahead 80-76 with 3:36 left in overtime. From that point on, the Wolfpack lead never shrunk to a possession as the Pack iced the contest by making six of its eight free throw attempts over the final 2:16 of play.
