Girls gave it a great try. A couple chances to turn the tide, but just weren't able to get it done.

Very proud of all the young ladies, the staff, and all those associated. I know it hurts, but you have had a Hell of a season and something you will remember forever.

GO PACK!

We were in control up and set and a break on 5 and 6, we had 3 set points on court 4 in the tiebreak. We had a second sect point on 2 to force a third. Just couldn't quite get over the hump.

For about 15 minutes we were in control of the match up second sets breaks on 2,3,5,6. If we win that tiebreak on 4 and close out 5 and 6, then we are probably looking at UNC needing to win third sets on 2,3 and 4 to win.

Much closer than the score 4-1 would indicate. But give them credit. They won huge points when they needed to. Losing all three of those tiebreaks that came around the same time took the wind out of our sails. Incredible season. Winning the ACC and going to the NCAA finals is quite a season. We are in position to stay elite. Go Pack!

"The last thing I told them was: I think anything you do in life, you want to pass it on better than when you came into it," Earnshaw said. "I definitely think each year we're starting at a higher level. Next year now we've accomplished this, this year we're going to start at a higher level than we've ever been."

I didn't have a problem with them flipping Brantmeier and Crawley at 1 and 2. I do think they flipped them at the start of the NCAA tournament with an eye for playing NC State. Brantmeier was a better matchup against Shnaider's power. But it ended up being a wash because we split at 1 and 2 singles in both the ACC and NCAA.

I did find it curious that they split up all three doubles teams that they had basically rolled with all year for the NCAA. Getting Scotty and Brantmeier down to courts 2 and 3 probably made a difference in them getting that doubles point. I don't think there are rules against moving players down, and especially in doubles I would think it would be hard to change partners and be successful that late in the season.

They were 27-3 in doubles for the season, with their loses to TAMU, UVA, and NCSU in the ACC finals. Then in the NCAA they lost doubles in the sweet 16 and elite 8, so their doubles struggled until they got to the Final Four when they beat Georgia and NC State.

Our job is to beat whoever they put on the court, and if you have enough talent to move people around and succeed, then so be it. I think we would have been more confident playing the same matchup, and they probably felt that as well, so why not switch it up if you can be successful.
