Has anyone heard anything about our scrimmage today with Campbell?

I'd assume we have played them already since both duke and the holes have held scrimmage games already. Still no word on how our game against the Fighting Camels went?

We won both halves although both were close. 2nd half was strongest. Lennard Freeman, Dorn and Al Freeman were the standouts.

The best player on the court I was told was Chris Clemons

Glass, it that why no one seems to be talking about it? Seems to me there's not much "secret" about it other than we may have sucked.

I'd like to hear more about it. I'm excited for basketball, even if we're starting out in a very tough position with Abu injured.

I know everyone is excited and can't wait to see our product, but Friday's exhibition should show us what we have. A pressing style with elite athletes should destroy a division 2 team.

On a related note, the basketball schedule listed on this site is still last years. How do we get that updated?

That's been asked already in their question / requests thread...still no answer.

UNC-Cheat played D2 Barton and only won by 11. These are practices where coaches try different matchups and sets. I wouldn't read too much into any of them.

Clemons is a beast! Guy made SC top 10 in high school and Gott made a late push to try and get him here. Has that "it" factor despite being under 5'10".

As far as the Camel, there are many stories on how it became the mascot. The most referenced story is a benefactor told the president to "get a hump on his back" and rebuild the campus after a fire when it was Buies Creek Academy. As the campus was rebuilt he told the story to help raise money and the "hump" reference led to the camel being the mascot. Only D1 school with a camel mascot. Pretty cool if you ask me. Definitely a unique identifier.

I think we will struggle come ACC time, especially if Abu is out longer. New team, new schemes. Hope we surprse, buty expectations will be low until he gets some horses in here.

People act as if we lost last year because we didn't have talent. We lost because of effort, team chemistry and coaching decisions.
We have a really good talent base this year. I think a new voice and system plus two really good shooters will make a difference.

Gott lost the locker room and that was it

I was cautiously optimistic prior to Abu going down. I never thought we'd make the NCAAs, but now I am fairly certain that the OOC schedule and results alone will keep us out. Also with Abu being down, I think he'll then have to play his way back into shape. That means we'll probably be 2-3 weeks into ACC play before we're really up to full strength. Even if we rally down the stretch it likely will be too little too late.

Having said that, it doesn't dampen my excitement for this year at all. What I hope to see is a team playing hard, together, and with a style of play that can actually work in college basketball. We've not had those 3 things at one time since V.

If we have those 3 things, we will have laid the foundation and built the culture. We just need a few shooters and the wins would come more quickly than most fans anticipate.
