The No. 21 NC State women's soccer team (3-0) will conclude its four-game homestand when the Wolfpack hosts No. 11 Georgetown on Sunday night. Kickoff at Dail Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m. and will stream live on ACC Network Extra.

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's matchup against Georgetown will mark just the fifth meeting between the two programs, all of which have been played since 2013. NC State is 1-2-1 against the Hoyas, earning a 3-1 win at Georgetown on Aug. 25, 2019, before splitting the points at Georgetown this past season in a 2-2 draw.

SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown has earned all three possible outcomes so far this season, holding a 1-1-1 record. The Hoyas earned a draw at Penn State to open the season before cruising past UMass-Lowell 3-0 this past Sunday. Earlier this week, Georgetown dropped a 1-0 contest to Virginia, the No. 8 team in this week's United Soccer Coaches' Poll. The Hoyas were named the preseason favorite to capture the Big East title with eight of the 11 first-place votes.

The NC State women's soccer team tallied a pair of second-half goals to draw No. 11 Georgetown 2-2 at Dail Soccer Stadium on Sunday night.

After Georgetown (1-1-2) took its first lead of the match in the 79th minute on a goal from Natalie Means, the Wolfpack answered the Hoyas' score when graduate defender Jenna Butler finished off a low cross from Jaiden Thomas to tie the game at 2-2 in the 85th minute. Both Thomas and Brianna Weber logged assists after Annika Wohner elevated to win a header, keeping the ball in Georgetown's box.

NC State (3-0-1) finished its opening homestand undefeated, earning victories over Rhode Island, VCU and Campbell before earning a point against the No. 11 Hoyas. NC State outshot Georgetown 8-5 in the final 45 minutes and held a 6-3 advantage in corners in the second half.

After a scoreless first half, senior forward Jameese Joseph buried the Wolfpack's first scoring chance of the second half to make it 1-0 just 31 seconds into the second period. Joseph received a layoff pass from Wohner before striding toward the Georgetown goal, blasting a right-footed effort into the top-left corner.

Georgetown, however, leveled the game at 1-1 less than a minute later when Henley Tippins notched an equalizer. NC State almost regained the lead in the 78th minute Alexis Strickland's shot at the near post went to the right of the Hoyas' goal.

Less than a minute later, Means capitalized on an NC State turnover to make it 2-1. NC State then responded with three corners and three shots before Butler buried her shot from close distance.

Joseph extended her point streak to four straight matches on Sunday, scoring goals in her past three appearances after tallying an assist in the season opener. Thomas has logged an assist in her past three matches.

Graduate defender Jenna Butler registered her second straight game with a late goal to lift the No. 17 NC State women's soccer team to a 2-1 comeback victory Thursday night at Elon's Rudd Field.

Butler, who scored the tying goal in NC State's 2-2 draw against No. 11 Georgetown on Sunday, again scored with less than 15 minutes remaining when she headed home a corner kick from fellow graduate defender Lulu Guttenberger. The Wolfpack scored both its goals on corner kicks, earning seven corners compared to zero for Elon (1-2-1).

NC State (4-0-1) fell behind in the 13th minute after Jessica Carrieri recorded the opener, making it the first time this season the Wolfpack allowed the game's first goal. Carrieri's strike made it 1-0 Elon just 10 minutes after Guttenberger missed from the penalty spot in the third minute, striking the crossbar for NC State's first of 23 shots in the game.

The Wolfpack outshot the Phoenix 13-3 in the opening half, increasing the pressure in the final 15 minutes of the first period. Fernanda Soto fired a shot from outside the box just over the crossbar in the 37th minute. The Pack then tallied three shots following Soto's shot from distance, including a close-range header from Leyah Hall-Robinson. Hall-Robinson drifted toward the near post, heading a shot on goal after a pintpoint cross from Guttenberger in the 41st minute.

Just over two minutes later, Jaiden Thomas poked home her first goal of the season off NC State's fourth and final corner kick of the first half. Thomas' goal marked her fourth straight game with a point, knotting the match at 1-1 in the 43rd minute.
NC State outshot Elon 10-5 in the second half, drawing three yellow cards from Elon defenders in the final 45 minutes. The Wolfpack almost grabbed its third goal three minutes after Butler's game-winner when Elon goalkeeper McKenna Dalfonso denied Jameese Joseph on her fifth shot of the night.

The Wolfpack's 23 shots marked a season as four student-athletes recorded four shots or more Hall-Robinson (six), Joseph (five), Butler (four) and Annika Wohner (four).

The newly-ranked No. 17 NC State women's soccer team secured its first road win of the season in a 2-1 comeback win over Elon on Thursday, Sept. 1.

After the Phoenix (1-2-1) got out to an early lead, NC State (4-0-1) took advantage of its corner kicks to score a pair of unanswered goals. Graduate defender Jenna Butler, who scored the game-tying goal in the Pack's last match, once again played hero as she headed in the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute.
After receiving a corner kick from fellow graduate defender Lulu Guttenberger, Butler played the Pack's set piece perfectly as she guided an arcing shot into the side netting for the game-winning goal.

While NC State capitalized on its chances provided by corner kicks, the Pack seemed to live in Elon's defensive third as it outshot the Phoenixes by 15 and earned seven corner kicks. But while the Pack had a high volume of shots, only four of its 23 were on goal.
Even with the Wolfpack outshooting Elon by the end of the match, the Phoenix drew first blood in the 13th minute. The game-opening goal prompted a barrage of shots that ensued from the red-and-white's offense as it searched for an equalizer.

The Wolfpack finally found what it was looking for at the end of the first half when senior midfielder Jaiden Thomas took control of a ricocheting ball inside the Phoenix box after a corner kick. Thomas, who recorded an assist in each of NC State's last three matches, finally found the net herself when she sent the bouncing ball over the heads of Elon's defenders in the 43rd minute.

After leaving for the locker room tied 1-1, both teams looked for a winning edge in the second half. Elon fired off multiple shots at junior goalkeeper Maria Echezarreta and the rest of NC State's defense as the Phoenix looked for its own go-ahead goal. However, Echezarreta and the back four held fast as Butler and the offense found the winner at the other end.

More shots down the stretch from sophomore midfielder Annika Wohner and Butler almost added to the Wolfpack's lead, but the scoreline remained 2-1 as the final ticked off the clock, granting NC State its first road win of the 2022 campaign.

After more late-game goals to save its undefeated record, NC State will briefly return home for a showdown with Harvard before jetting off on a week-long, cross-country road trip where the Pack will face off against Nebraska and South Carolina.

NC State's match against Harvard is set for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Sunday, Sept. 4 at Dail Soccer Field.

The No. 17 NC State women's soccer team suffered its first defeat this season after falling 2-0 to Harvard at Dail Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

NC State's run of five matches unbeaten to open the season came to a close Sunday behind a brace from Harvard's Ainsley Ahmadian, who scored the game's opening goal in the 31st minute before doubling the Crimson's lead with a goal in the 50th minute. The Wolfpack (4-1-1) fired six shots in the defeat, including a team-high three shots from senior Jameese Joseph.

The Pack logged the game's first shot on goal in the ninth minute when Leyah Hall-Robinson registered a shot on frame from inside the right side of the box, forcing a save from Harvard (4-0) goalkeeper Anna Kaprenko in the ninth minute.

Wolfpack goalkeeper Maria Echezarreta kept the Crimson off the scoresheet early in the match, making a pair of excellent saves within a five-minute span. Echezarreta's first save came off a direct free kick from Harvard's Hannah Bebar, pushing the ball over the top of the crossbar. Her next save came minutes later off a Crimson corner kick, blocking an in-swinging cross before getting up and denying Ahmadian on a short-range effort.

The Crimson grabbed the opening goal in the 31st minute when Ahmadian finished off a cross from Bebar with her left foot.

Harvard doubled its lead just over four minutes into the second half when Ahmadian drilled a right-footed shot from outside the box, picking out the top-right corner for her second goal.

NC State increased its offensive pressure following Ahmadian's second goal when Joseph fired a shot on target in the 55th minute, forcing another save from Kaprenko. Joseph again came close to adding her name to the scoresheet when she forced a turnover, collected the ball and ripped a shot just left of the Crimson's goal in the 71st minute.

Echezarreta recorded a season-high five saves on the afternoon. Freshman midfielder Eliza Rich also made her first-career start in Sunday's match.

The No. 17 NC State women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, Sept. 4 to Harvard, whose stifling defense played a major role in the Crimson's 2-0 win

NC State (4-1-1) was frustrated all match by Harvard's (4-0) defense as the Pack rarely found a way to reach the attacking third. Once there, however, Crimson defenders seemed to outnumber and swarm NC State's attackers, making goal-scoring opportunities few and far between. Meanwhile, Harvard turned defense into offense by scoring goals in the 31st and 50th minutes, earning it the 2-0 victory.

Despite the poor showing, the Wolfpack sits at 4-1-1 after a strong start to the year. With road trips to Nebraska and South Carolina on deck, the Wolfpack has an opportunity to rebound against two formidable opponents.

The Wolfpack will travel to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers on Thursday, Sept. 8. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The No. 19 NC State women's soccer team earned a 0-0 draw at Nebraska on Thursday night at Hibner Stadium.

After a scoreless first half with no shots on goal from either team, NC State (4-1-2) logged the first three shots in the second half. Fernanda Soto recorded the first Wolfpack attempt of the second half in the 57th minute, while Jameese Joseph fired a shot of her own less than four minutes later in the 61st minute.

The Pack's best attempt of the night came in the 67th minute when Annika Wohner just missed a close-range effort at the right post. The No. 19 NC State women's soccer team notched a 0-0 draw at No. 4 South Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Stone Stadium.

The Wolfpack (4-1-3) finished road nonconference action undefeated with a win at Elon and a pair of draws at Nebraska and South Carolina (5-0-3), respectively.

NC State goalkeeper Maria Echezarreta recorded her fourth shutout of the season with two saves. The Wolfpack limited the No. 4 Gamecocks to just two shots on goal in the match.

After a scoreless first half, the Pack recorded a pair of shots in a two-minute span beginning in the 70th minute. NC State cleared a South Carolina corner attempt with Annika Wohner then carrying the ball up the right flank to the Gamecocks' 18-yard box. Wohner cycled the ball over to Mia Vaughan before receiving the ball back right at the top of the box, striking a curling effort just high and wide of the top-left corner.

Brianna Weber followed Wohner's attempt with a shot on goal, forcing a save from Gamecock goalkeeper Heather Hinz.

The No. 19 NC State women's soccer team took on No. 4 South Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 11 and tied the Gamecocks 0-0 in a heated top-25 match.

This result is the Wolfpack's (4-1-3) second straight scoreless draw after tying the Nebraska Cornhuskers 0-0 in its last match. It also marks the third straight game that NC State has failed to score a goal. Nevertheless, the red-and-white still earned a point after drawing even with an experienced South Carolina (5-0-3) squad.

Similar to its recent games, the Wolfpack was once again dwarfed by its opponents in terms of shots. NC State only registered three shots to South Carolina's 16, with only one shot on goal. Furthermore, the Gamecocks earned seven corner kicks compared to the Pack's two.

South Carolina was able to keep pressure on NC State throughout the entire match offensively, but junior goalkeeper Maria Echezarreta saved the Gamecocks' only two shots on goal. Another impressive effort from Echezarreta was once again the Wolfpack's saving grace as the junior earned her second straight clean sheet and her fourth of the season.

Echezarreta recorded both her saves in the first half, helping the Pack defend against South Carolina's seven shots in the period. While the Gamecocks were able to record another nine shots in the second half, Echezarreta and NC State's back line denied all attempts to score.

While the Pack's defense held fast against a nationally-recognized South Carolina team, the offense couldn't find the spark it needed to put any real pressure on the Gamecocks. With only one shot on goal from sophomore defender Brianna Weber, the Pack struggled in the attacking third.

The only other shots from NC State included attempts from sophomore midfielder Annika Wohner and senior forward Alexis Strickland, who registered the Pack's only shots of the first half.

In another slow day for NC State's offense, Echezarreta and the defense played the hero role for the second straight game, surviving South Carolina's barrage of shots. However, NC State will have a chance to respond when it returns home after its two scoreless draws on the road.

The Wolfpack will battle High Point University on Thursday, Sept. 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Field

The No. 20 NC State women's soccer squad took the field against High Point University on senior night at Dail Soccer Field, beating the Panthers 3-1 on Thursday, Sept. 15.
Freshman defender Brooklyn Holt and senior forward Jameese Joseph led the charge for the Wolfpack's (5-1-3) dominant offense. Junior goalkeeper Maria Echezarreta, who recorded three saves, had another impressive performance in goal this season.
