Following the opening week of 2021-22 competition for Wolfpack swimming and diving, NC State sprinter Nyls Korstanje was named ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

An 11-time All-American and seven-time ACC champion, Korstanje earned the weekly award for the first time in his NC State career. He was also the 2019 ACC Men's Freshman of the Year.

The Wolfpack junior made a dynamic return to collegiate competition after spending the 2020-21 season preparing for the Olympics. He picked up top finishes in all of his individual races last week and helped lead the Pack men to dual wins over North Carolina and Tennessee.

Most impressively, Korstanje clocked in at 19.66 in the 50-yard freestyle to lead the Pack's 1-2-3 sweep over the Volunteers. He added a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (46.41) at that meet and also competed in and won the 100-yard freestyle (44.04) against the Tar Heels.

The Netherlands native also swam the butterfly leg (20.10) of NC State's 200-yard medley relay, which placed first against Tennessee in an overall time of 1:24.92.
