No. 15 NC State rifle could not hold on and dropped a 4692-4662 decision to No. 9 Akron at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range on Saturday.
The Wolfpack (1-8) fired off a 2310 smallbore and a 2352 air rifle total while the Zips racked up 2323 smallbore and 2369 air rifle scores to earn the win on their senior night.
Leading the charge for the Wolfpack in smallbore was Ben Salas who fired a 581, which was the second-highest score in the discipline. Katie Tedeschi followed behind with a 580 while Addy Burrow tallied a 577. Rounding out the scoring for NC State was Sam Burrow and Travis Stockton who recorded scores of 572 and 568, respectively.
In air rifle, Addy Burrow paced the Wolfpack with a 592 and Salas followed behind firing a 590. Addy Burrow and Salas posted the fourth- and fifth-best air rifle scores, respectively. Stockton shot a 586 while Tedeschi tallied a score of 584 and Sam Burrow added a 580 to complete NC State's air rifle total.
Overall, Salas finished third at the match with an aggregate total of 1171 and Addy Burrow placed fifth with an 1169 aggregate.
