The NC State men's soccer team (6-7-2, 0-5-2 ACC) concludes its 2021 regular season on Friday evening as Boston College (6-5-2, 2-3-2 ACC) comes to Raleigh. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and the Eagles is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium, and the match will be broadcast live on ACCNX.

CELEBRATING SENIORS
NC State celebrates the careers of 14 members of the Class of 2021 on Friday night: Alex Bautista, Ivy Brisma, Parker Cross, Aidan Foster, Pepe Garcia, Alex Hernandez, Leon Krapf, Jose Morales Jr., Kuda Muskwe, Bailey O'Connor, James Orozco, AJ Seals, Jamie Smith and Brad Sweeney.

This group of men has combined for 428 starts and helped transform the trajectory and culture of NC State men's soccer. They helped lead the Pack to three NCAA Tournament berths in a row from 2017 through 2019, marking the first such accomplishment for the program since the 1980s. In 2019, the team finished fifth in the league standings for its best ACC finish since 2005. In total, these 14 members of the senior class have been a part of upsets against four top-five opponents.

SERIES HISTORY (NC State leads 8-7-4)
Friday marks the 20th overall meeting between NC State and Boston College. The teams have played each other at least once every season since their first meeting in October 2004.
NC State and Boston College last faced off in the season finale in early April, playing to a stalemate. Leon Krapf made three saves on the day to tally his sixth shutout during the 2020-21 season.
The Pack remains unbeaten in its last three matches against the Eagles. Prior to last year's draw, NC State had won the 2018 and 2019 regular-season meetings between the squads.
NC State is 7-1-1 when playing against Boston College on its home field. The Pack's only home loss to the Eagles was in 2008.

NC State men's soccer (7-7-2, 1-5-2 ACC) wrapped up the regular season in dramatic fashion as a golden goal by freshman Luke Hille secured the team's 1-0 overtime victory against visiting Boston College (6-6-2, 2-4-2 ACC).

The decision over the Eagles gave the Wolfpack its first conference win of 2021 as it heads into the postseason. Hille's game winner came in the 108th minute thanks to the help of an assist from fellow rookie Noe Cabezas. Cabezas worked his way into the box, taking the ball to the far right corner before chipping a centering pass in to Hille who finished on the header.

Prior to the match, the program celebrated the careers of 14 seniors. The Class of 2021 helped lead the Pack to three NCAA Tournament berths in a row form 2017 through 2019, and they have been a part of upsets against four top-five opponents.

The Pack dominated the match offensively even before Hille's extra time heroics. Overall, the team owned a 26-5 advantage in shots, with eight of those coming on target. Boston College goalkeeper Brennan Klein made saves on all seven of NC State's attempts that he faced before having to sub out in the 104th minute.

Leon Krapf was perfect in goal for NC State, tallying his 25th career shutout to take sole possession of second place in team history. He made a pair of saves on the night, most notably stepping up to cut off Aidan Farwell's strike in the 76th minute and deflecting the ball to keep the match scoreless.

Eagle midfielder Sam White was assessed a red card in the 81st minute, and the Wolfpack played up a man for the remainder of the outing. Following that red card, NC State out-shot Boston College 13-0 and converted on that last attempt by Hille. Hille failed to convert on a penalty kick attempt just five minutes prior in the second overtime period but was able to find the back of the net to seal the victory.

NC State now turns its attention to the 2021 ACC Men's Soccer Tournament, which opens with first-round action on Wednesday, Nov. 3. The 12th-seeded Wolfpack will travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on fifth-seeded Notre Dame. That match is set for a 7 p.m. start from Alumni Stadium and will be broadcast live on ACCNX.

Kiefer: "He's so driven, I know how much that ticked him off. I felt he'd get one, so I'm pleased that he did."

NC State men's soccer's (7-8-2) 2021 season came to an end on Wednesday night with a 1-0 loss to Notre Dame (10-5-2) at Alumni Stadium in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

It was a tightly contested matchup, as each team placed three shots on frame, but a penalty kick goal was the deciding factor.

The first half was dead even, as each team was limited to three shots each in a scoreless 45 minutes. Luke Hille was responsible for the only shot on frame in the half, as his strike from just above the box bounced right into the hands of Notre Dame goalkeeper Bryan Dowd.

In the 53rd minute, Dawson McCartney put the Irish on the board with a converted penalty kick.

NC State was knocking on the door to find the equalizer shortly after the goal with a pair of quality shots by Henrique Santos and Hille, but both were saved by Dowd.

Leon Krapf made a pair of crucial stops in the 75th minute when Notre Dame's Mohamed Omar took back-to-back shots from close range, keeping the contest decided by just one goal down the stretch.
