NC State University Police Chief Jack Moorman met with the media today to update the status of a criminal investigation involving several freshmen football players. Here is audio from Mooreman's press conference and several of his quotes.

As police chief, I'm responsible for the criminal investigation... at the same time, there's an administrative investigation. We felt comfortable that we're at a point we could release some details and some information.
There were underage people at the event. It was in a room at the University Hall... we did determine five students who were present were involved; underage alcohol use and illegal drug use at that time.
On August 8th, we forwarded the drug and alcohol part to the University's Title IX investigation.
We're looking at is there a probable cause to make criminal charges in the case? What can we make an arrest on, issue a citation on, or bring someone into the criminal justice system?
At this point, there are no other students we've provided information on to Title IX.
The criminal investigation is still on-going.
It doesn't necessarily mean all five individuals would be suspects or individuals that we're looking at for the sexual assaults.
The criminal investigation we're not prepared to talk about at this point.
Those five individuals were present and had various degrees of involvement with the drug and alcohol activity.
Any decisions about charges should be made in the near future. If there were decisions than warrants would be obtained at that point and arrests would be made. At this point, we don't know. That's still an ongoing process.
The Police Department has not released their names, as part of a criminal investigation, I wouldn't have released their names. We had information that needed to be forwarded to other individuals within the university.
That did not come as a result of the criminal investigation. One thing we do here at NC State, as we're investigating these incidents, they are very complex incidents and a lot involved in it.
