WATCH: Finley Says Pack Is "Closer Than Ever"

NC State redshirt junior quarterback Ryan Finley is much more comfortable at fall practice a year after enrolling prior to the start of the 2016 season.

What has the process been like, learning different guys personalities and them learning about you?

Well, it’s obviously been great to be here for a full Spring and Fall and just getting to know all the guys.  I think our team is closer than ever and our chemistry as a team is going to correlate to our success on the field.

Coach said you’re a dry sense of humor guy.

Who did that?

Coach Doeren.

Yeah, it just depends.  I can adapt to whatever environment I’m in.  But I’m just really excited about the season, and like I said, really excited about the bond we’ve made as a team.

Have you been reaching out to different guys in different ways this year, compared to May or June of a year ago?

Yeah, like I said I think our team is closer than ever.  You’ve got guys from different position groups bonding and hanging out with other guys, and I think that’s pretty special, I think that’s real special about this team. 

Yeah, I think it’s important to be yourself.  I think when you’re around family, and we call ourselves family, it’s important to be yourself.  As a team we’ve been doing a lot of activities, we’ve been speaking in front of each other and that’s something you’ve got to do. 

It’s been real special to hear some of our guys stories and connect with them on that level.

Is it natural for you to open up like that? Are you an “open up” kind of person?

You know, I think it’s hard for a lot of us to open up in front of a lot of people like that.  At the end of the day, I think we’re all family, and I think it’s important for all of us to really open up and be ourselves.

That’s stuff we’ve been doing and it’s been really special.
