WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. The NC State women's tennis team completed the first day of competition at the ITA Carolina Regional on Thursday as freshman Marta Gonzalez-Ballbe battled her way to the main draw and the nation's top-ranked doubles duo (Anna Rogers and Alana Smith) picked up its first win of the weekend.

Gonzalez-Ballbe kicked off singles play for the Pack with back-to-back wins, advancing her to the main draw of singles play on Friday.

In the first round of doubles, Lexi Keberle and Liz Norman extended their win streak to four matches, thanks to a dominant 8-1 win over Wofford's Liz Massie and Rebecca Rubanov.

Teammates Gonzalez-Ballbe and Lana Mavor also picked up a first round doubles win, while Rogers and Smith and Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami had first round byes.

Rogers and Smith defeated Gardner-Webb's Daniel Naupari and Miljana Ristic 8-5 to advance in the tournament.

Rogers and Smith Advance to ITA Carolina Regional Doubles Semifinals

ITA CAROLINA REGIONAL RESULTS & DRAWS
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. Anna Rogers and Alana Smith, the nation's top-ranked doubles duo, advanced to the doubles semifinals at the ITA Carolina Regional on Saturday.

The 8-5 decision over South Carolina's Megan Davies and Mia Horvit moved them into Sunday's slate and one match closer to an automatic bid for the ITA Fall National Championships.

The two continued their success into singles competition. Eighth-ranked Rogers defeated Sophia Patel (UNC) in straight sets to secure her place in the quarterfinals. Smith, tabbed at No. 40 in the national rankings, also extended herself into the quarterfinals with a straight-set win over Duke's Margaryta Bilokin.

In the quarterfinals, Smith and Rogers dropped their matches to ranked opponents, ending their runs in singles competition at the tournament.

Teammate Dylan Cannon advanced to the B Draw quarterfinals before ending her run in straight sets to ECU's Michelle Cube.

The eighth-ranked NC State women's tennis team (4-0) captured a dominant 6-1 victory over ninth-ranked South Carolina in the first match of its doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The win marked the program's first over a top-10 opponent.

The team closed out its doubleheader with a win over Charlotte Saturday evening.

The #8 NC State women's tennis team moved to 6-0 for the second consecutive season on Monday, defeating Appalachian State 6-1 and East Carolina 7-0 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

Appalachian State and East Carolina both dropped to 0-1 on the season.
