No. 14 Men's Tennis Remains Undefeated with 4-0 Win Over Penn
Story LinksPHILADELPHIA, PENN. - The 14th-ranked NC State men's tennis team achieved its seventh-straight victory on Saturday, defeating Penn 4-0. The Wolfpack improves to 7-0 and on the season while the Quakers fall to 2-2.
The Wolfpack took the doubles matches on courts one and two as Alexis Galarneau and Robert Turzak defeated Jason Hildebrandt and Edoardo Graziani 6-2. The Quakers evened the doubles score with Aditya Gupta and Harsh Parikh's 6-3 win over Rafa Izquierdo Luque and Collin Shick. No. 32 Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai secured the doubles point for NC State with a 7-5 victory over Dmitry Shatalin and Kevin Zhu.
In singles, Izquierdo Luque's opponent Hildebrandt retired to put NC State up 2-0 in the match. Izquierdo Luque took the first set 6-3, and the second set was at 3-3 when Hildebrandt retired. Galarneau continued his unbeaten streak in singles on the season, winning his sixth straight singles match as he took down Graziani 6-3, 6-2.
Babelis sealed the victory for the Wolfpack, notching a 6-4, 7-5 win over No. 88 Kevin Zhu.
