Seabron checks in at number 27 on 247sports new big board: https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/2022-NBA-Draft-Big-Board-Jabari-Smith-Auburn-Chet-Holmgren-Gonzaga-Paolo-Banchero-Duke-180359544/

They're more useful for recruiting stuff than NBA draft stuff, but definitely still notable

Nice win tonight for the Pack. Hopefully everyone on this thread talking about Smith transferring is quiet.

It's not Smith that's the problem. It's losing Hellems (certainly) and Seabron (probably), both of whom we're instrumental in tonight's win. Losing those two, along with Bates (likely) leaves another young roster next year that lacks the size and experience to achieve more than this years team, which, despite tonight's win, will likely miss the NCAAT.
In other words, next year is a rebuilding year for a program that didn't even make the tournament.
But tonight was a nice win, no doubt. If Bates was healthy and if Keatts could have beat out UVA for that power forward transfer, this team could have been top 25.

Bates ain't coming back. Whoever is thinking that is delusional.

Lol what

It was never about Smith. Hes obviously a beast and proved that again last night. It was about him being frustrated about the lack of talent around him.

Not sure if we go after him at this point or not but I really like his game. Good size, athletic and can shoot

Wanted him the first time around, even more the 2nd time. Maybe 3rd times a charm? Would have to sit a year I think

Wait why sit a year?

He transfered from FSU to TTech, so he used his free transfer year if I'm not mistaken. Next transfer he has to sit

You can transfer one time without having to sit, since he has already transfered once, he would have to sit I believe

Any chance he could be a grad transfer?

Without looking at his stats , do guys transferring for a second time ever turn out to be good?

Point taken, but we saw him play at Florida State last year, and he's a nice player. Probably not a starter, but would definitely be a rotational piece here. That's why I'm not sure we reach out to him. Not sure how many openings we will have at this point but I think Keatts will need to add a couple of starter type players

Antonio Daye, another guy we pursued, just withdrew. Was averaging 16ppg at Fordham.

Are we recruiting anyone? Is there prep basketball being played? It's so dead. Or are we just 100% focused on the current team?

Basketball recruiting will be pretty dead until late March to early April, when transfers will be on the market

Right, and I believe as it stands right now we have no scholarships available.

Seniors(2): Manny Bates*, Casey Morsell
Juniors(6): Greg Gantt, Cam Hayes, Shakeel Moore, Ebenezer Dowuona, Dereon Seabron*, Jay Gibson
Sophomores(3): Terquavion Smith, Ernest Ross, Breon Pass
Freshman(2): Shawn Phillips, LJ Thomas

There's likely gonna be a ton of movement though once the season ends

Pretty sure the ruling on the DSJ thing took a scholarship away for next season so technically we are still full

This is the most likable awful team in our history. And that's saying something. I know it's beating a dead horse but credit to Keatts for holding it somewhat together with 3 of our better front court players out for the year.

If we get hot from 3, then we look good for awhile. Otherwise we look like an AAU team.

We are 2-6 in a weak ACC, will not make the NCAAT, and could finish DFL in the conference. And we need to "rebuild" next year just to match this level of failure.

Could anyone confidently identify more than two starters on next year's team?

Do any of our recruiting gurus have any idea who we are looking at that might possibly match the impact of Hellems and Seabron? Anyone at all?

$100 to the first person to predict who our starting point guard will be next year?

Is Cam Hayes more likely to stay or more likely to transfer? And which option would be best for the program?

He was absolute poison for the team tonight.

I think its likely that he stays. KK doesn't give up on players easily. Especially guards

^Good point about Keatts, but I was thinking more about Hayes wanting to leave.
Where does he get enough Wing minutes with Terquavion, Morsell, Allen, and the new guy Thomas coming in? Breon Pass is a better point guard, and then the stud is coming the next year at that spot anyway?
Hayes has nice lift on his floater in the lane, which is enough to score in high school, but otherwise he lacks the ball handling skills, passing skills, vision, and decision making to excel in the ACC. Plus, his attitude is straight garbage.

I hate to be "that guy" but I don't see any reason Cam will still be here next year. Might be best for both parties if he moves on, unless he is going to improve A LOT before next year.

Madison Hayes might be a reason to stay. Maybe not.
