Hey guys. We had a thread on E+ where we had an ask for red classic cars for a football photo shoot. I saw there were a bunch of gear heads in that thread. So as a gear head myself I wanted to see what all we have in the IPS car barn. Tell us the stories and why you bought them as well. Personally I love them all. I am on car 67 currently since 1996. I will kick off the first one.

This one I bought for my old man. He had a 1966 Corvette in the 70's. His was Canary yellow with factory side pipes and factory air conditioning. He has always wanted another but really wasn't able to swing it. So I decided to buy this one so he can enjoy reliving his younger days. This is the first classic I have owned and I am pretty pumped. It's slow, handles like a covered wagon, and is a pain to get my big ass into. But it's also pretty stinking cool. Probably need some white socks and new balances when I drive it.

Figure I would also post my favorite car of all time. I love Porsche 911's. I have had 8 of them in the last 10 years. I had posters of 964 turbos and 993 turbos on my wall growing up. I have always been in love with the flat six. The way it has punched above its weight class, the distinctive sound, and the fact Porsche has been improving the same motor for over 50 years. I am just in love with 911's.

My all time favorite was the 991.2 GT3RS. The reason why I loved it so much was because it was just raw. I had an 991.1GT3RS and it was wonderful. But the chassis was more forgiving than the .2. Everything about it was purposeful. There is nothing about it that doesn't either make it go fast, make it handle exceptionally well, stop in a hurry, or sound fantastic. I am all about utility and every car has a purpose. The purpose of this car was to absolutely prove to me on the track that I never could find 10/10ths with it. I just am not a good enough driver. I felt like this was the car for me that was an event to drive. A different event than a Ferrari which was a look at me event. The event feel of the GT3RS was the event in my heart and soul that kept telling me this is the car that will never be tamed by me. I have limited storage space so this one got shipped out when I bought the 992GT3. I regret it to this day. I will own another but in the mean time I want to try them all first!

If I could buy and restore a car, I would love to get a 68 Fire bird. Or a Model T, my grandparents had one, first one of of the area we are from.

My dad has owned 3 corvettes in my lifetime. The first was a 70's model white t-top that I still remember to this day. He would pick me up from elementary school in it on Fridays and always had a small Sun Drop in the little glass bottles and a KitKat bar waiting in the seat for me. I felt so cool.

Priorities shifted and he sold that vette. It would be nearly 20 years later before he got his second one. A 2003 50th anniversary convertible. It was fun to drive and as the last year of the "pop up headlights" she was fun to crank up and feel humming under your seat before taking off in that thing with the radio blasting and your hair blowing in the wind. Somebody made him an offer he couldn't refuse on it one day and to be honest it spent too much time in the garage anyway.

He'd spend years going to car auctions and always trying to find the Corvette that his cousin had and would drive around with as a teenager. The one that made him a Corvette guy to begin with. About 7 years ago he finally found and bought the 1967 Corvette Convertible that had so many fond memories attached to that year and model. The almost unbelievable part is after all those years of searching, she'd finally come available for sale less than an hour from home. One owner, garage kept and covered, her paint, interior, and everything on her is as original as the day she rolled off the showroom floor..and she had less than 1,000 miles on her when he bought her. Of course she needed to be tuned up, new tires were needed (which he made sure he replaced with the exact same ones original to the car. She's pretty with her white top up, but really shines when the top is down. It wasn't until she got the personalized plate "Will Fly" that his cousin's had and his previous other two had that she finally felt complete. This vette is loud as crap when you crank her up, your entire body shakes while sitting there idling with the engine under that hood, will get up and go in a hurry, but you come back home needing your shoulders worked on just from the amount of force you have to use to turn the wheel and keep her straight when driving her. lol. What makes me the happiest is that this is by far the nicest and most expensive corvettes he's owned, but she spends less time in the garage than the previous ones. You can tell driving this one makes him happy, takes him down memory lane, and he takes every opportunity he can to take her out for a spin, sunset cruise around town with my mom, or making my nephew's eyes get wide with excitement when he hits the gas and their heads go back from the horsepower.
