Isn't Tony Stewart going to concentrate on NHRA taking over for Leah Pruitt while she gets started on their family?ncsupack1 said:
About time for some racing, ( weather not looking good ). Like I mentioned on another site, what is the future of SHR going forward? They seem light on sponsors, and I'm not sure if they will be around next year at this time. Their deal with Ford will be telling, right now they have to run 4 cars in Cup. The deal ends this year.
Yes, Tony is racing full time in NHRA this year. Tony has also sold his dirt series to Larson.Glasswolf said:Isn't Tony Stewart going to concentrate on NHRA taking over for Leah Pruitt while she gets started on their family?ncsupack1 said:

It needs to. I'm not saying move it back to Daytona (which is my preference). I mean go to Phoenix, Texas or even Homestead. I really miss Speed Weeks. We'd RV down and spend the entire 2 weeks in the infield of Daytona prior to the 500.ncsupack1 said:
Congrats to the 11. Personally thought the race was okay, looks like it is moving next year.

Daytona had a great run. I miss it also, but for whatever reason the fans either stopped going and towards the end it didn't get a lot of buzz. My guess is that they move the Clash to Mexico next year. They didn't bring the Mexico series there for no reason.

Yawn. I'm glad that I didn't even know it was on and potentially be dumb enough to try to watch it... if I was vastly disappointed watching it in Year 1, I know that I would have been disappointed having to watch that mess in Year 3.
But on an empty Sunday afternoon on the weekend in between the Conference Championship games and the Super Bowl at 1 or 2 o'clock, you can be damned sure that I would have had my ass parked on the couch in my home office watching the Busch Clash at Daytona.
It used to be the opening of Speed Weeks and it built the excitement prior to "everything" at Daytona.
Just so dumb. Don't use the most famous and exciting track in the series...

I mean people seem to not like baseball being played on a football field or the other way around, but NASCAR or any racing on a football field is good?
I could never get into the dirt race. Glad it's gone. We can thank FOX wanting the race and possibly lose a team owner over that.WarrenPeace said:
It was a cool idea but 3 years is too much. Just like the dirt race and Wilkesboro will be the same if they keep doing it. I like that they're trying to spice it up though. It had gotten stale.
Agree with Glass about Daytona. Miss those days. Just seems like the start of the season belongs there.
America has just changed so much. Different place now.
I can remember a time when Riverside or Ontario, Calif was the 1st race.WarrenPeace said:

Way before my time, haha.

Edited to add: They actually had two races a year there for most years, and I definitely remember them racing at Riverside (Dad was a huge Petty fan) - but you have to remember that this was still basically in the "radio only" era of almost all of the NASCAR races, so you have to forgive us for not remembering when the races were scheduled. Riverside was a road racing track as well.
I remember, as a kid, listening to a race on the radio. As a kid, I didn't listen to the whole race (attention span wasn't good); however, I would listen, go play, and come back for the end. Similar to today, just now, I lwatch, fall asleep, and come back for the end.TheStorm said:1963 - 1981. Yes, those were the radio days. Early days of MRN. Remember the very first race to be shown flag to flag live was the 79 Daytona 500. Ontario MS was a 2.5 mile oval similar to Indy. Looks like it had more banking in the turns at 9 degreescaryking said:I remember, as a kid, listening to a race on the radio. Do you also sleep in a Lightning McQueen bed? (just kidding, just kidding )ncsupack1 said:
To this day I turn off the volume and listen to either MRN or PRN. So much better than tv. I also play the scanner as well.
I do the race scanners also, but agree MRN or PRN are much better.ncsupack1 said:
