House Committee passes bill that would allow for constitutional carry in NC. Moves forward to next stage. NC would be the 28th state to pass such a bill should it be approved.

Definitely approve of this. It shouldn't even be necessary to have to pass such a law though, because the text of the Second Amendment explicitly states "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".

The term "bear" essentially means "to carry" -- ie, to carry on your person. For example, if someone "comes bearing gifts", they have brought gifts with them on their person.

We don't just have the right to own firearms, but only within our own houses. We have the RIGHT under the Second Amendment to carry them on our person, in order to protect ourselves wherever we may go, including while traveling and in public places, etc.

One of the next steps that is needed is for more states to pass laws or constitutional provisions that prevent the federal government from infringing on their citizens right to keep and bear firearms -- sometimes referred to as making a state "a Second Amendment sanctuary state". So, if for instance, the federal government were to pass another "assault weapon ban", it would be nullified and not able to be enforced in the state of North Carolina or other states.
