The rule doesn't say candidates must receive equal air time. It says they must be offered equal time. You can't make a candidate appear.

Also, is it on a per-show basis (SNL only) or across a network's platform of shows and ad time slots?

Trump and Hillary have previously appeared on SNL and Lorne Michaels has spoken about this issue previously so it would be pretty weird for SNL to all of a sudden ignore any responsibilities they have to provide equal access.

So was Trump offered a chance to appear on SNL and declined?

Also they don't have to be on SNL to abide by the equal time rule. Other comparable shows count. Was he offered a chance to come on other NBC shows and declined?

Oh, I agree completely that it's outrageous, but when I was in the military, I never, ever used military assistance resources for that purpose…instead, whenever I was home on leave, I made sure the local board of elections would send me a ballot at wherever I happened to be posted.

I should admit that I wasn't thinking of nefarious schemes when I did that, this was the twentieth century after all and the Dems hadn't quite sunk so low. But I was young, there were hot women working at the county administrative building and it was an excuse to go see and be seen.

Rich Baris, who runs the Big Data Poll is really good. Atlas was the best in 2020 and Big Data was second best. He is a conservative leaning pollster but he knows his stuff.
