As someone registered as unaffiliated, I'm getting slammed with political texts/calls, so I can't wait for this whole deal to be over, regardless of outcome.
BUT, I'll say this... Kamala/Dems have REALLY ramped up the texts the last week or so. It could mean nothing, but it really is starting to feel a bit like desperation because they feel this one getting away from them.
Agree I'm ready for all the texts and calls to go away.
The race is an essential tossup and still coming down to tiny 1% - 2% margins in a handful of key swing states.
If it's obvious it's that close, why in the world wouldn't a candidate absolutely hammer down advertising the last week?
The flipside of your logic is that Trump isn't blasting texts because he's comfortable he's going to win. That would be an interesting conclusion given current swing state margins are all tiny and well within the margin of polling error.
I think both sides are paying for polls that are telling them what they want to hear. Trump thinks he's going to win NC, comfortably. Harris thinks she's doing well in NC or she wouldn't keep hammering our state with texts/ads/visits.
I can also say, every single text I get, makes me want to vote for that candidate less, and not just for President. The visits causing traffic issues, signs for miles on every road, hours of political ad space day after day, and then getting slammed with texts/calls daily... it's just too much, and it's not a positive for a candidate. Not sure how Kamala(or Trump) sending me a text at this point is really going to change/sway my vote, regardless of where I'm leaning.
