Those of you here that have knowledge about White Lake, will you please post it? Good, bad, indifferent... Mrs. just said, right out of the blue, she'd like for us to visit there. Neither of us have ever been before. Any and all information is appreciated. Thank you.

Been there a couple times. It's like...redneck nice. Not a ton of places to eat unless you go to Elizabethtown (and if you do, go to Burney's for dessert). I think there may be two very different sides of the lake. One side is old houses and campgrounds and such. The other seems to be newer houses in the 300k-1mm+ range.

ETA: our kids freaking love it. My wife would retire there if she can talk me into it. It's certainly not bad, but there is a very redneck vibe to me and you'd need to know that going in if it's not something you're fine with.

Ha…I haven't been there in 20 years but the people I went with had a little redneck in them. Had fun though.

I was there 10 or so years ago. I went to the water park and it was ummmmm, interesting.

that place is like a slice of Myrtle Beach or Florida put at a lake.

Some of the cabins are nice. Noticed some new ones last time down there.

Been going there my whole life so I'm biased but it's a great little lake town. They just recently redid the whole Goldston's Beach area and it now has a fun bar on the water and a couple restaurants.

You have to pay to enter there unless you're staying at one of their places, right?

To swim and hangout off their pier you do. But anyone can enter for the bar, restaurants, etc.

Spent a lot of time there as a kid as it was a favorite of my parents, but haven't been in thirty years. The fond memories do make me want to go back, maybe I can talk my better half into a weekend there.

My dad lost his wedding ring in that lake when I was a kid.

Kind of what I'd expect from a place with a name like that. ;D

The responses are about what I figured they'd be. I've heard the "redneckish" term used in the past, so that's not a surprise to see it here. I'm interested in at least going there to spend a few days looking around, especially to compare values to other places we've looked. Can't see that there's anything to lose doing that, and besides, I've probably spent time in worse places in the past.

Never been, just remember that was the lake our FFA group in high school would visit every summer.

Yep. Just go... it's been 30+ years since I went (fraternity brother's family had a cabin there)... some of the clearest lake water that I've ever seen in my life... at least here in the States.
