Thanks for bringing this up. I like good intellectual discussions but too many participants have been driven off the board by this…..Redwolf said:
I think the name calling and personal attacks need to be dialed down a notch or two.
Both sides, it's making it harder to stay in the debate.
It does get overly ridiculous from time to time... and yes, sometimes it can be warranted, but far too often lately here it isn't - or it's not delivered in the manner that it should be.Oldsouljer said:Thanks for bringing this up. I'm guilty! Well, only with Chem! I do wish more would engage; however, it's going to take some civility, on both sides, for a good debate.TheStorm said:It does get overly ridiculous from time to time... and yes, sometimes it can be warranted, but far too often lately here it isn't - or it's not delivered in the manner that it should be.Oldsouljer said:Thanks for bringing this up. People like Civ try and provide good counterpoints, so, as much I probably disagree with his world view, I think, for the most part, Civ does things in good faith…
So @JoeBiden claimed he never had any contact with Hunter’s business. Here’s a letter to Hunter’s business partner from when Joe was Vice President with a handwritten note saying he’s happy Devon Archer and Hunter Biden are in business together. The federal government has no role in any of this crap. We can't have political hacks shaping the way people want to live. I may be alone; however, this climate change stuff really isn't what it's made out to be.Civilized said:packofwolves said:

At $1.08 a year there's no "almost" about it.
Civ, I did go back and look at the beginning of the thread. I agree, we had more people engaging in debates. That said, was it because of the election timeframe? Is it now because of the two or three posters?Civilized said:caryking said:I'm guilty! Well, only with Chem! Thanks Cary. I do try to discuss topics in good faith. I'm obviously not alone in this, most of the people on here do.
Unfortunately the political threads on this board are so much less conversational and active than they used to be though and that's almost entirely because of two or three posters that inundate this board with memes and insults instead of just talking. And their voices are even louder now that they're like 15 of us in here talking instead of 10x that number several years ago, so their voice is one of only a few that's left.
Go back to the beginning of the Election 2020 thread that packgrad started and look the variety of posters that contributed and compare that to the current Biden Administration thread and the Trump 2024 thread.
Night and day. Hopefully the pendulum swings back in the other direction at some point.
This thread seems to have evolved into a Cary, Civ, packgrad thread recently........I say have at it.
