NC State just landed a commitment from Raleigh (NC) Cardinal Gibbons infielder Graham Virag, one of the top in-state players in the 2028 class.

“I committed a couple of days ago and just made it official today,” Virag stated in a text message.  “I’m a part of the Pack!”

Virag plays in the Canes National 16U travel baseball program and has recorded exit velocities up to 107 mph with a 6.91-second 60-yard dash time.

He batted .395 with six home runs as a sophomore for Gibbons.  

Virag is rated a top 10 prospect in the state according to Prep Baseball Report.

Great kid, tremendous worker, natural athlete. I coached him 6-8th grade, was our starting PG.

Kid pitched with both arms in middle school; he knew all along baseball was going to be his future LOL

Big boy, prolly still growing. Corner INF/OF kid I'd assume.

Hope he has the tools to be a power hitter as he grows and matures. We sure need some based on the last two seasons or so.

This is part of the reason I enjoy college baseball so much. You see a lot more local guys on the roster and in the starting lineup.

Feels like that's becoming a thing of the past in football and basketball.

It is crazy. But not insane. We have a RHP recovering from TJ right now that has practiced throwing lefthanded since surgery and it's actually quite impressive.
