Well, the series did not go as we hoped, but at least we can enjoy this convincing win over the Tarholes. Pitching and hitting showed up today. The back to back home runs were very satisfying considering our performance in the first two games.

Enjoy this win. On to Charlotte.

RPI jump up will help NC State. Question being is it enough?

In previous seasons, ACC Tournament, unless a team wins the Automatic bid, does not translate to NCAA selection.

Against my better judgement, I tuned in in the late 2nd or early in the 3rd and what do you know, I saw some good defense, good pitching, and manufacturing of some runs. The two homers back to back were nice, but nobody on. The bottom of the 7th, we hit one ball out of the infield(Decarlo's single) and scored 3 runs. I am not a big believer in giving outs away with a bunt, but Head's was perfect for a hit, Ryan moved them over, Serrano got a ground out to score 1, then Vinnie got the hit to plate the other two. Good solid baseball.

I thought Nance was good despite the terrible strike zone. Hemric did well until he hit the two batters. He was the beneficiary of two questionable strikes that went our way. Garino looked to get hosed on a strike then got mad and set them down.

Good win and I hope it's enough. Go ahead and win one or two in the tournament then see where you are.

Like I said, I see both sides. Elliot has represented NC State very well over 3 years and really wish he could conclude his coaching career with an ACC or CWS Title.

I'm fine with him going out on his own terms, just think some of his coaching is old school and outdated.

-We were last team in ACC to start shifting and probably still don't do it enough.

Just a couple:

-He doesn't change his lineup even if a lefty hitting third bats sub .200 vs lefties.

-Bullpen management, no comment needed.

-Defensive vs offensive positioning like last year with Heavner.

-Basically went away from small ball/attempting to move runners couple years ago. This is actually an MLB approach but you need guys with power to achieve this.

I'm sure there are more but that's a good start.

I love Elliott. If that was indeed his last home game, I will have seen his first and last home game as a NC State skipper. Was a junior in college when he took over the helm.

No coach owns the position...it's about the players and the school. There should never be any coach ownership of anything. It is a privilege to do the job, period. A coach serves the interest of the institution. I believe Avent would agree. He has always been a loyal servant of NCSU. I am sure that he understands that time comes for change.
