Good to get out of SF but Cleveland isn't much of an upgrade and I am aware as of today Cleveland is in lead for AL Central.

He will probably be platooning with Hedges.

Friend of mine who is a SF Giants fan told me issue with Bailey was batting average and value of a gold glove catcher fell off cliff this season across MLB. Bailey was an excellent 'Framer' of pitches but with rule change and ability to challenge strikes and balls the art of framing goes away.
If Bailey is going to have a very long career in MLB he needs to improve his hitting, as he was batting .146 for the Giants.

There were actually a few tweets and comments,I think IPS shared one, showing that there remains a big value to being able to frame pitches. Definitely would be good to get the bat going though.

Which made the trade kind of weird as Hedges is known for his defense and definitely not his offense. So they now have 2 catchers with same trait. Of course their backup catcher Bo Naylor was also batting something like .145. Think the hope is Baileys bat comes around.

No offense, but your friend is wrong.

At one point last month he had already caught 40 pitches out of the zone that were called strikes that went unchallenged.

He can't hit but he really doesn't need to, he has been a 3-4 War player and the best defensive player in baseball for basically the last four years. Most models rejected the trade because the surplus value was so lopsided for Cleveland lol.
