Can we just make a pact to not post that the season is over anymore? Until it is?

These kids freaking battle. This is a host capable roster with the worst pitching injury luck in the country. What a damn team. What a performance.

Great performance by Nixon! ESPN top 10 material.

Eat it, Sosa! Poetic Justice to get beat in what used to be your home stadium! Bu'Bye.

Another example of why some fans need to stay off these forums and let the game play out. Criticism of the coaches and players on this thread were downright brutal.

A 2 strike miss from Garino away from a sweep.

Shoot, and if memory serves a questionable ball call the pitch before

Great win to take the series! Nixon, Serrano and Johnson big tonight with the bats. Serrano must play. Nance is a beast.

I was thinking the same thing. Heath and Garino pitched well enough to win game 1. Poor fielding in the first inning dug us a hole and if we had not done that, we sweep.

Serrano should be mentioned as important this weekend, as well. Game winning hit in game 3, Sherm' home run was great but Serrano gave us the lead.

Great weekend for Pack 9. Way to play with heart. And a small thanks to their load mouth, classless second baseman running his mouth during the review at second base on the McHugh play in game one. Old school Avent teaching them baseball and throwing behind him in his next at bat lit a fire under us. Great play all around this weekend. Credit to Avent for his leadership.

About to be 11-12 in the toughest or second toughest conference in the country with two all ACC, high draft selection, OLD starters missing 7 combined starts… and we are complaining about NIL.

lol are we supposed to be happy about 11-12?

.500 now with two studs out. 6 of 8 series against tournament teams with overall SOS tracking to be around 20. Of the other two, one was a sweep and took 2/3 from the other with a one run Sunday loss.

This is a host conversation team with Dudan and Marohn. So yeah, I'd say one hell of a job and a wasted conversation around talent retention and NIL.

Anderson Nance started the year as a top 3 pitcher on this roster. Only now is he getting to show that.

What a great night of sports in Raleigh!

Was watching back and forth while the hockey game was on. Turned it on just in time to see Sherm's grand slam. Saw some of the 9th but then did not see the last out. As they said on the broadcast, Nance was over 100 pitches and was still getting to 96 with ease. His mechanics are so pure and he has a lightning bolt right arm. He would lull them to sleep with the change up, then blow one right by them. Great job by Anderson to seal the deal.

3rd base is a problem. I say leave Serrano at short and put Ryan at 3rd when he comes back. High ankle sprains do not heal well, so not sure when he can get back. Christian had himself a fine couple of days. Not bad for a young man who should still be in high school.

Go out to Stanford and get at least two(hopefully a sweep) and we will be looking good going into the series with the Smurfs.

Why is 3rd base a problem. Johnson has been better the Piefer in the field all year. They got Piefer in the 3rd game because they haven't been able to get production from the dh spot. But Sherm has been good at 3rd. I know Piefer had the rep to be a defensive player but it hasn't shown up this year. Mikey may be able to come back and hit with a sore ankle before he's ready to play ss so maybe we see him dh some.

We must not be watching the same video. Johnson has not been good in the field either. Have I watched every game? No, but I have seen enough that I do not think he is a very good fielder. Ryan has struggled also at short at times, although he had been somewhat better the last couple of weekends he played. Routine plays are not routine on that side of the infield.

Ok you posted it right there. Do you want your 3rd baseman with a sub .900 fielding percentage? if so then have at it. Thanks for making my point.
Kmcpack

Relax guy. Just wouldn't call it a problem. I remember when Tommy white thought he was a 3rd baseman. Now that was a problem. Short and 3rd are generally going to have the most errors. Sherm is one of the best hitters on the team and needs to be somewhere. We got bigger issues than him being our worst infielder on a really good fielding team.

You are the one trying to change the subject not me. Never said a word about Johnson's hitting. I had not even looked at fielding percentages when you challenged what I had posted. I went and looked and then you proved my point by posting them. Yes we are a fairly good fielding team, but 3rd base has been a problem. Both guys are making errors on a ratio of about 1 error for every 9 chances. That is not good no matter how you try to spin it.

Oh and I am totally relaxed. Thanks for proving my point and sticking your foot right in your mouth. That sir, is a win/win.

To be fair, Tommy White didn't play much 3rd base here. His fielding percentage in his one year here was .934. Our defense at 3B this year has been awful

Just an awesome moment. Something about a big time home run under the lights of the Doak just hits different.

That's the kind of win that could give you some momentum going forward.

Okay maybe me saying Sherm at 3rd is "good" is subjective. I have just been tired or hearing everyone say we have a "gold glove" 3rd baseman on the bench every time Sherm makes a mistake. When Sherm has been better. Could you ask have a better defense 3rd baseman sure. But it's still not a problem big picture. Sometimes you have to concede defense somewhere to get bats in the lineup.
